Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi

Avoided this thread until I’d seen it, and watched it in 4DX 3D...

The awkward and not funny jokes ruined large parts of it and Carrie Fisher was probably worse than these joke attempts. Leah should have died when the bridge was blown up, she is terrible in this.

Felt like parts of the film touched on the return of the Jedi element more then empire so the next one will be interesting.

Not much character development going on with the 2 main protagonists.

Really was a poor effort, I can’t understand how hard it is to make a decent Star Wars film...the script is already written it just needs adding to and some good directing.

4DX 3D is pretty cool though, I’d recommend it for your next film!

For me I can't stand Kylo Ren and the forced romance between he and Rey was hilariously bad - partly because Driver and Ridley have no on screen chemistry. The thought of RJ getting his own trilogy is a big put off for me.

Completely agree about the trilogy element, it scares me.

I like Kylo to a certain extent, his pure rage persona sits well with me. Rey is terrible.

I do find it weird that all speculation about who is Snoke actually surmounted to nothing!

That's what you get when you allow two different directors to make a trilogy; you end up with plot holes, or weak explanations, when the other director doesn't like the ideas of the previous. As well as the poor Snoke plot line, the Knights of Ren were missing and Captain Phasma was irrelevant again.

I can only assume that the Knights of Ren will be there in the next one...I hope!

Captain Phasma is the most irrelevant character in star wars, even Jar Jar Binks had more relevance!

The knights of Ren possibly are far and wide across the galaxy on snokes bidding, or some thnk it was his red guard.

One thing though, in TFA reys vision of them is with Ren and his red lightsaber, yet both Lukes and Rens account of the jedi temple luke had set up was destroyed in the flashback in TLJ Ren still has a blue lightsaber, so Reys vision could be a future event yet to happen until the next film

Phasma was JJ's fault tbf, created a special stomtrooper with fuckall to do.

It has been muted that a film in the 'a star wars story' group will be set at the end of galactic empire/battle of jakku time and explain the first orders rise, to sit alongside SW Battlefronts game that covers that timeline.

Saw it in a 4D cinema which was interesting. A bit like one of the VR rides at Disney. Didn’t expect much but enjoyed it nonetheless. I am not a star war nerd so really don’t follow all the lineage stuff. From the start I have watched each film just about standalone and this one compred well with most of the others. 7/10

Fully agree, Ren is an interested and conflicted character and for me is the best character in the new trilogy
Rey is just poorly developed with no real substance to her character

They weren’t the knights of Ren because they didn’t use the force, in fact that whole fight no fucker did, why didn’t Ren force choke or push them away? So many plot holes and shit comedy, the second time I saw it I thought it was worse, if RJ gets to keep his other trilogy I’ll be amazed.

The guys in red? They weren't the Knights of Ren, they were snokes bodyguards....similar to the Emperors in Return of The Jedi.

I think the Knights of Ren will be the people who left Luke's Jedi Temple with Kylo, and they will be all over the universe.

Far too many Keyboard warriors around these days.
I enjoyed Thd Last Jedi, did it go in directions I didn't agree with? Yes, would I have taken it in a different direction in certain places? yes, but you have to respect the directors vision.
I doubt there's few on here who have ever written and directed a film, even a small one is a fuck load of work, scripting, storyboarding, location scouting, casting, shooting, editing, soundtracking, and that's just for an almost throwaway no budget short!

I'm going to see it again to see how it flows 2nd time round.
I didn't like the Phantom Menace, so I just didn't see the the next in the trilogy.
 
Pleasantly surprised, went in expecting it to be wank, but it was alright.

Far too much comedy though, or should I say attempted comedy. Literally no need for C3PO, those little rat things, etc etc.

Still doesn't come anywhere near touching the original trilogy though.

i sort of agree now you mention it ref C3PO but i suppose its like a comfort blanket having the icons of the films in there

on the very last scene for those in the know about all things star wars, who, what, why, where etc or just a conduit to start the next in the series?

And with the Leia thing, I assumed her floating in space was her dying because she'd died during filming...but then she came back and the story was written that way? Bizarre.
Also, how come she was fully in this, but had to be digitally added to rogue one...12 months ago?
