A friend of mine knew him well, in the end he hated the drinking competition thing apparently.He was stabbed in the throat, he died almost instantly.

Brian Jones drowned in his rather shallow swimming pool. The drugs he was on were prescribed downers, which he was used to taking. He had also drunk alcohol that night but was a hardened drinker, and a strong swimmer.
A lot of speculation still surrounds his death and a mini industry has thrived around it. The deathbead "confession" was only witnessed by Tom Keylock, former Stones driver / bodyguard. Some have now pointed the finger at him. Keylock died exactly 40 years later than Jones, same date.
