Starters, or straight to main course?

I understand many of the restaurants have closed down and replaced with Shisha bars etc.

Someone else may know more but it was shabby last time I was there. Years back.

Shisha bars and takeaways galore replaced most restaurants, likely joined by ''Turkish'' barbers now too. (The latest much less overheads, and hard to disprove if they claim they had say 500 walk ins for a cash only haircut/shave in a day, for the money laundering fronts they really are.)

I tend to go straight to the main these days.

Today, however, I had French Onion soup (starters) followed by Breton fish stew and it was superb. The only snag is I don't want to eat owt else until tomorrow.

Times change and we change with them.

I imagine restaurants don’t make much money. There’s the antisocial hours, low wages leading to staff shortages etc.

At lunch: straight to main. Evening meal: starter, main, dessert. Anything else you were dragged up.
