Very good shout. Sterling and De Bruyne would fill in so much better than Nasri and Navas, so we could play a genuine 4:5:1 if need be, instead of pretending we were doing it, and leaving Yaya and Ferna to get swamped by anybody with midfield runners. The player I would most like to see is Ramos (for Mangala). That would make the above a top European side.
 
If we get our reported targets there's so many systems we could play.

Because instead of shooting from the hip for this player or that player, it starts to address what we need to make up a great team.
Transfers are mentioned in the replies, Pogba, Sterling, De Bruyne, etc, but they are not just lobbed in at random. For example, if we don't get Pogba we get Wilshere. What sort of team planning is that? They are both midfielders, but are otherwise chalk and cheese.
This thread asks people to put (eg) Pogba in a sensible looking team, not just to say "we want Pogba, regardless of what we have to accompany him". Somebody suggested Pogba in a three with Yaya and Ferna, as a two won't work. That is the way I hope the management are thinking, and it is best expressed in a thread such as this. It's more rational than 900,000 wants/don't wants.

If that team works hard defensively and plays a high pressing, high defensive line then I genuinely think we would win the league at a canter and come very close to the Champions League. Squad depth might be an issue in the winter months and I wouldn't want to rely on Yaya, so another midfielder is a must, hopefully Wilshere rotating with Pogba and Fernandinho. The extra competition could drive a few of the under performers on.
