State Pension Increases

I have my own business, people haven't got the same money they had, people are being cautious, not spending, you see people with new cars and think everything is good in the world, for a lot of people it isn't and a lot of that is due to the uncertainty in the UK and around the world, and the UKs huge debt is just part of the problem...over to you.
Me too mate and it's a good time we really haven't been busier although I don't own the biggest share everyone who works for us is doing really well, maybe we're fortunate a fair bit of it is financed by Government so can't really complain. Not saying everything is hunky dory doubt if it ever will be no matter what we do half the country can't change a plug for themselves, it's more personal debt than National debt that should be the worry.

Update for those in a similar position.

Just received a letter from Phoenix Life confirming I opted out in April 1988 and that my fund with Britannia with Profit is sat with £43790.10.

Incredible as its cash I literally had zero clue was mine and had forgotten about.

Everyone around my age, get online, check HMRC and see if you have a COPE pension and if it says you do then get looking.
I had a similar letter this week. It's money I knew about but hadn't realised I'd lost track and they didn't have my address. The letter explains they track you down and make contact. I phoned up, answered a few security questions and was reunited with 14k of pension.

U really need to sort my own pensions out. Get them consolidated into something I control. Was there someone on here whon used to do that sort of thing.

If you means test the state pension too many people would stop paying into a private one. It wouldn't make any sense.

If they means test my state pension I will burn parliament down with all the fuckers in it.
I’m with you even though not got it yet, down there tomorrow as well perfect opportunity:-)

The rise is immediately wiped out as everything goes up every year. If you have a private pension, no matter how small , if it takes you over the paltry £12,570 limit they tax that fucker as well.

Other than the interest payments £4bn last year could be used to improve services
It could but you and i know it wouldn’t, the money to service the debt is included in Government spending plans. Unless you fancy going back in foundries and sweat shops for a pittance then the National debt is something we live with.

Makes you wonder if investing in a private pension is of any use or should you stash money away over the years discreetly.

Because you paid no tax on the contributions you made to your private pension...
