Statement from fan groups ahead of new season

One of my mates (not a member currently) uses my son's ticket for CL and FAC occasionally, he's tried to get a member number but failed before the deadline, so is now frozen out unless he pays for membership, and full price for a ticket. He's only an "occasional" matchgoer, but he'll now become a none matchgoer due to the distance he lives from Manchester.

City really don't help themselves at times.
What makes you think City give a shit about fans?

Suspect this will be my last as a season ticket holder.

Lad is at uni and unlikely to make 10 games. I've loaded his ticket to my phone and will try and find a way to get him to 10 by taking others, but I'm basically having to think of ways to cheat the system, when all I want to do is pay for his season ticket, sell the games he can't make back to the club (who then sells the seat at a higher price) and then he'll have his season ticket available when he finishes uni and potentially gets a well paid job and wants to go to lots of games. Instead, I suspect he'll lose it, meaning he probably won't bother going when he finishes the course as he'll have got out of the habit. And if they won't renew his, they can do one for mine, which I suspect is what they want all along as that's two seats they can sell for a premium price to fans who'll also want to visit the shop, do the tour and whatever experiences the new City square can charge them for.
If you've got both season tickets on your phone alternate which one you sell and which one you use to scan in on. Hopefully that should get both to 10 attendances.

Just been through the Uni situation with my 2 lads so sympathise.
Because of them both being at Uni I dropped one of our 3 season tickets so we now share 2 between the 3 of us. They are both working.

If one of us gets squeezed out in future with something like facial recognition then that's all 3 of us gone as I couldn't leave one not able to go and I am certainly not paying tourist rates.
That means their kids probably wont go and that's from a line of City fans who started with my dad going to his first game in 1938.

People on here saying that City want season ticket holders gone but I think its more just incompetence by club management. Who builds an extra 8000 seats ( when you don't sell out every game anyway ) and then puts more restrictions in place?

You have to be a special kind of wanker to do that.

So I guess the Emptihad shite will which a WHOLE NEW LEVEL this upcoming campaign at the Etihad…..sigh

It can mean one of 2 things.

The person who thought it up is an imbecile.

There's a slow realisation that the fans genuinely really don't matter at all and this is just the start of them showing us exactly that.

For my sanity I'm going with the first one.

The reduction in ticket pricing would indicate they do think fans matter but then again that could just be City's PR going into overdrive.

Tim, you’ve either ignored the point I made or you missed it? I’m not going to rewrite it again.

Let’s hope the people in charge of the OSC publicly support any future fan protest if there needs to one or if there is one? Because I can tell you now, the majority of the OSC membership wanted the OSC to ‘officially support’ the last fan protests. Hopefully there will be no need for the fans to protest again?

I’ll leave it at that mate.

Enjoy the game on Saturday,
Pretty sad response mate.

I will let it go to.

I'd implore you not to cancel your season ticket. The club have performed plenty of U-turns recently following pushback from fans and it's quite possible they could do the same with the 10 game minimum in-person attendance.

If they don't back down, consider getting a cheap burner phone that supports NFC and downloading your season ticket on to it. Then when you can't attend and family/friends go in your place just hand them the phone to scan themselves in so no need to transfer the ticket to F&F. Of course, if you're moving out of the area then the logistics of getting the phone to them and back to you might be an issue.

That was absolutely and exactly my problem. Hence, with a heavy heart, I was one of those who gave up my season ticket. Now I've just got matchday membership. I had family and friends who I could transfer to, and that seat was never empty. It was occupied by good, lifelong blues too. Not tourists making a quick visit to Anfield, the Etihad, the Emirates on a package tour from South Korea (or wherever).
What I would like to know is this — to anyone's knowledge, have any new season tickets been released to people who've been on the waiting list for several years? It would console me a little bit if I knew that my seat had gone to a good blue. If it's basically gone to Viagogo then that deeply pisses me off.

As for facial recognition — if that is implemented, I'm out. For good. I shan't be going back to the Etihad. I deeply and intensely object to the very principle of it. Anywhere, and for whatever reason. What kind of society are we going towards?

Im in the exact same boat as this.

Son is at Uni overseas and has no chance of making 10 games as well. If his ticket is taken from him then mine will also go as they can fuck off. Ive had a season ticket at the club since 1977 - including my parents and grandparents a member of our family have had season tickets at City since the early 1930s. Its patently clear the club dont give one iota of a shit for the match going fanbase.

Just to clarify, as a season ticket holder do i have to attend at least ten home games per season or is it 16?

Nope, I read and re-read this very carefully. You, in person, have to attend ten games, not sixteen (obviously you can attend more). For sixteen games, your seat has to be occupied, either by you transferring it to friends and family, or by you putting it on the exchange.
