Been on them for while now and not noticed anything untoward. I'm also on Metformin and if ' Breaking Wind ' was an olympic sport, I'd be on the podium.
If you were that good you would be blown off the podium ;-)Been on them for while now and not noticed anything untoward. I'm also on Metformin and if ' Breaking Wind ' was an olympic sport, I'd be on the podium.
Only side effect I've suffered is dearer holiday insurance.
High cholesterol. What are they for ?
what levels are we talking about here? just for knowledge sharingI have been on them for a few years, I was a bit apprehensive about being on long term meds but they said with my levels it was unlikely a change in diet alone would drop them low enough. I was getting monitored every 4 months or so for liver function etc and everything was ok. They asked me to start taking an additional tablet to reduce levels further and then I seemed to drop off the system and before I knew it, it was about 9 months before my next assessment. When I received the results I had to immediately stop taking them as my liver levels were showing significant damage. I was sent for a scan and everything was fine. I started on a different Statin and everything been fine so far.
About a year after all this, I read an article where they have found that the blood tests taken to check liver functions etc whilst you are on statins can produce highly elevated liver results but it isn’t actually causing damage to your liver, which is exactly what happened to me.
I believe they are reviewing this as it is possibly causing people to come off statins due to phantom results and causes more negative reports around the risk of taking statins.
If your levels are high, I would certainly recommend taking them.
Anyone on statins? If so how have the side effects been? Been told to go on them from tomorrow due to high cholesterol and increased cardiovascular risk
