Steaua Bucharest post-match thread

So it seems the roots have maybe taken hold a bit
This match will give the group confidence.
And I would love to watch the next full practice. They will be eager and hungry for more.
For me, I will be watching Dave and Kev.
Their link up is vital. Once they are on the same page, the front will be lethal. Sterling with Sane on edges
Fernandinho and Gundogan feeding the front
with Sergio on top
Drink it up Blues

Can't be bothered to hunt through the thread, but just wanted whoever compared Alexi Lalas to one's "passive-aggressive hippy uncle" to know that made me laugh more than anything Ive read in ages. Particularly because he reminds me of my own passive-aggressive hippy uncle. But would still be funny if I didn't have one.

Great performance of course. Early days, but I wonder if Nolito will be this year's Negredo. Not setting off the fireworks when signed but may end up being a huge contributor.

I am beginning to get annoyed with how calm and comfortable I feel every time before a game. 2 straight games this has happened. Not liking this wierd feeling at all. It feels like im in someone else's body.

Pep Out!
Exactly my feeling. such an odd experience not to be even worried after missing those penalties. Not sure how to behave really. SO used to watching games through my fingers even when we are up.

At least so you would say looking at Daily **** ratings:

Oh dear ! You gave me a slight shock with that headline. Knowing Uefa, something like this is not impossible.

Certainly fair to say it is now the post Yaya period. He's a big chap mind and if the Bravo deal stalls Pep might try him as sweeper keeper!

Spare a thought for the Steaua fans who were told that their team would "smash" their visitors.

It's all very well for rag fans to disrespect our opposition but at least Steaua made it to the Champions League. Now Steaua have been relegated to the Europa they may even get a chance to play them so we can compare performances.

Apart from the result, and of course there will be more challenging games, it was the fitness that shone through with players hunting in packs right to the final whistle. That, in itself, is an improvement.

Nolito wasn't a signing that inspired me but it's interesting that there is a clear chemistry between him, Aguero and Silva that link being missing last year to the detriment of the team which at times seemed disconnected between defence and attack.

The acid test will come against the "parked bus" tactics that were our downfall so often last season as we got suckered on the counter. Personally, I'd like to see more shots from outside the box as an alternative when subtle one-twos in and around the box are being stifled by 8 man defences. Fortunately, we do have some time to work on that before we play Mourinho's team.

Brilliant game. OK, caveated by the fact that Steaua weren't world beaters, but a) you can only beat what's in frontof you and b) it's not unknown to struggle against smaller teams. We played SO well, loved it.

Also some room to improve, which is even better!

So excited by that, woke up a few times last night dreaming of that 4th goal! If they can play as well as that at this stage of the season..........
Nolito completely changed my opinion last night - I think he will make an important contribution this year. Early days and a weak opponent but that hasn't stopped us ballsing up in the past!
