Stefan Ortega

Was that Bettinelli in the Donnarumma inside city video? Looked like him to me which would indicate rumours of him being absent for a long time were false.

If thats the case, that rules out that theory of needing him as third choice as a reason for Ortega staying put.

To me the only logical explanation is we want to keep him as number 2 next year when Trafford asks to leave.

Bettinelli just had a slight injury, but yeah we now have all 4 keepers.

There isn't much to it. Ortega simply has decided against a move for wage purposes is the only explanation. Trafford asking to leave is still far fetched and probably not what City or Trafford remotely have in mind yet. We are just stuck with Ortega who is going to see 0 gametime.
We never expected someone of Donnarummas stature to be available and that chance was deemed unmissable by the club.

Wage purposes? Has there ever been any suggestion he's on a high wage and that wages have been a priority for him? There's a good chance he would get more as a number 1 elsewhere than as a number 2 here.

We have two number 1 keepers, that has never been manageable long term at any club, ever, so why is it far-fetched to expect us to lose one of them next summer and Trafford being the obvious one?

We arnt planning Traffords departure a month after signing him and we definitely arnt planning Ortega as backup a year after, all that is too long term. We can easily just sign any other backup keeper when the situation arises there are loads. I mean we signed 3 keepers in one window. It's far fetched because it's too soon, Trafford isn't just going to say he is done the minute we signed Gigi, he will likely wait it out to see if he can challenge him.

He has clearly been selective and rejected proposals either due to wage or clubs not big enough.

Wage purposes are not the reason.
He was offered a more lucrative deal with the Turkish club that Onana has just gone to.
Onana is getting a 20% increase on what were his wages at United.
Not sure what the reasons for him staying are?

Maybe he didn't want to move his family (wife and two kids, one of them 18 months old) to Trabzon?
 
Assume he will probably go in January. Weird choice from him as you'd assume he would just take the best of whatever options he had so he can try to get into the world cup squad.
