Stefan Savic

Seems to be a done deal but this work permit issue is concerning - will we get the McDonald Mariga treatment again or will we get some leniency like the rags, because I think there is a rule where exceptional talents can get work permits?

If we can't get a work permit, what country would we have to send him to for him to get a quick passport? Belgium?

Pretty sure we sent Abu to Norway for that reason.

have we "officially" signed Suarez, don't think I've seen it on the OS yet. Though maybe it's one of those 1 July kinda things.

So possibly 2 centre-backs this summer? Cahill/Vertonghen and this guy.

Would make sense as Boateng is probably leaving. And Kolo is getting old and not very much needed in Mancinis plans.

The club president in Partizan, Dragan Djuric and Mancini have done the talks, and the deal is done and dusted. 7 mill euro.

Because of the work permit the deal could be delayed until january, or in the worst case next summer, until Savic have enough matches for the national side.

The balkan media already rate him among the best defenders in Europe. My mate from Balkan is in no doubt, this is the signing of the summer!

A friend of mine from Balkan has pretty much confirmed this deal.

He firmly believes this is a good deal for City. Savic is a proper talent!

6 ft 1 worries me a bit - our occasional vulnerability to high balls into the box tells me we need a beast in the air to go with Vincent's brilliance on the ground, just a personal view

We have Lescott for those games - you will struggle to find a CB better in the air than Lescott (bar Vidic)

Although i haven't done a scout report on this player, he is someone i've noticed before. Last year i produced a list of players to scout for all the FM freaks out there, and the list was from players i had seen and thought they might get some decent stats on FM, and i was interested to see how the players would be percieved in the game.

Here is the list.

It's not that short for a defender. 1cm more than our january target David Luiz for example.

Im sure he is pretty good in the air.

6ft 1 worrying? Iirc, that is taller than Boyata, and is definitely taller than Kolo.
Honestly have no opinion on this transfer. Never heard of him, so can't make a judgment.

Taller than Kolo but Boyata is taller with 1.88m..

Kolo is 1.83m and this guy is 1.86m.

Dennis Suarez , Karim Rekik , Devantee Cole , and now Stefan Savic ...

isn't all this signings for preparation for the Nextgen competition we will be taking part in for the u-21's .... And then any outstanding talents can break into first team .

Great Move by the club .

P.S - All this deals will be announced on OS on 1st July and so on .

Would be good to get the prespective of anybody who has had the chance to see him play regularly, seems we only have graham baker's friend to go off at the moment.

An inch or so in height doesn't determine whether thay can head a ball! Obviously being a foot higher may make a difference but if you look at all of City's defenders, Micah Richards can jump 6 inches higher than any of them & he's smaller than the other CB's.

Strength, technique, timing are what's important.

Jumping ability is all about the muscles. He's already 6'1" which isn't bad by ANY means. If he's a tenacious and scrappy defender, fookin' bring him in. Granted, I've never seen him play, anyone know what he's like?

Yeah..that's true. I think this guy is good in the air. A inch here ot there doesn't make a difference.

Richards is pretty tall for a full-back but not for a centre-back. Still he is probably the biggest threat in the corners.

Correct. Cannavaro played top class football for the best part of 20 years, despite being about 5ft9"

He's strong and physical for his age, i wouldn't worry to much about his height, as he can easily use his strength to stand his ground. There wouldn't be many that'll push him about to easily.
