Good player, solid distance shot, but he is not yet at the level of other City forwards. Also, needs to work on his soft skills.

- In Fiorentina, he was the alpha guy. He still thinks he is, and as mentioned above, he believes he is entitled to shoot on sight. The pack has changed significantly, and he will need to work on his ego.
- Tends to put his head down and go for it. Likes 1-2s, but it rarely works so far, as they appear very rough, unpolished, missing that final touch.
- What does he play? Aguero replacement is the closest role I can see, but apart from difference in class, they are just different in style as well.

So I would not start him for the rest of the season. Maybe an impact sub here and there, and after WC there are bound to be changes, so either a clearer role for him, or an early exit.

This is my general opinion of him at this stage, and like the comment above this one by supercity88, I struggle to see a place for him in the team. There are elements of his game that are unpolished and the 1-2's he tries to play are a good example.

I am just not sure that he fits our requirements. At the moment in our team the quality required includes technical skills at a very high level, and I am not convinced that Jovetic fits the bill.
Really??! That lads got more technical skill in one toe than most strikers have in their entire body and he's definitely the most technically skilled striker we have.

Some of the comments about him in this thread are laughable, including the one that you highlighted there

If jovetic stays at City I think this will be a good thread to bump in the future, similar to some of the early Yaya ones

I think he will do well for us eventually, but it will take time. I would argue that the more outrageous posts were the ones implying that he would sensationally transform our title challenge.

People saying he doesn't quite fit our system, or he that he wouldn't work with aguero, are completely off it IMO.

It's a shame he's been out with injury for so long, but now that he's back, he still has everything to prove to pellegrini. It's not like with aguero who can come back from injury and automatically re-enter our starting 11. Aguero has earned that privilege. Jovetic definitely looks a real player from the minutes he received, but he still hasn't done enough to make a starting spot his own, yet.

Personally, I don't think there's any question that the aguero-jovetic link up will prove our best partnership. Jovetic has all the attributes to play alongside aguero in a 4222. No weaknesses in the link up, nobody killing the speed of play, or lacking the eye for a pass. Jovetic, IMO, is almost the perfect striker for this system. I think silva and nasri will also benefit greatly from his addition. For the way we play, he's got it all - size, speed, athleticism, link-up, confidence...

Don't think he's anywhere near reached a complete understanding with the other players, though. Just wait till next season. If him and aguero can stay injury free, it'll be special.

--jovetic--aguero--
nasri------------silva
--dinho-----yaya--

^This team will be an absolute joy to watch.

Its strange I don't understand how someone can watch him and come to that conclusion. It's as if they watch something entirely different. Baffling.

I'll admit being very underwhelmed and disappointed by his contribution so far, but there is no denying his talent. If he gets a decent injury free run, I think we'll see what he is really capable of. It's been a frustrating season for us with his reoccurring and seemingly never ending injuries, but I bet it's been more frustrating for him.
I hope he does well, and I think he has it in him to be a top player, either with us or elsewhere.
I really hope he gets the chance to prove it next season and establish himself as a first team player.

If he'd have been given more game time then he might have had a chance

Hes an excellent player who's been massively hampered with injuries. He deserves to start over Nasri atm.

A truly wonderful footballer, and if i recall rightly, in the game against Eng-er-land at Wembley, was by some distance, the most technically accomplished player on the pitch. If he can stay fit next season i think he could be the one player that sways the title in our favour.

He fits our system perfectly, can play striker, drop in the holes Sergio leaves when he comes deep to collect, create killer passes, finish sublimely, and link up play to flanks.

I like him ;-)

He is one of few players who is on the same level talent wise as Aguero, Silva, Yaya. He is a true star player, not a fill in.
Injuries have ruined him, but I expect him to become one of the best players in the league if/when he gets fully fit & setlles down.

If that doesn't happen here & he doesn't fit in, he will just move on & become one of the best players in whichever league he moves to.

Jovetic is a genuine top player & he has the confidence to go with it. If we don't get the best out of him, someone else will.

Yep completely agree....you do have to wonder if your watching the same player at times with things people come up with on here.
