Was that aimed at me? I admit I've put a bit of timber on lately, but still....
If you are indeed of the Caledonian ilk, did you perhaps once decorate a soiree in Derry Irvine's castellated retreat?
Are you a Fettes Old Boy too?
Sadly not, Sassenach to the core, but I number among my elevated friends one of Derry's famous pupils. In fact the great man himself has trodden on me on one more than one occasion.

Jovetic hasn't travelled with the rest of the Fiorentina squad, to their summer training camp in Moena.
Must be signing for the rags on the minimum wage, then.

If by minimum wage you mean love of the club, then yes.
Indeed I do! And Fiorentina are reportedly letting him go on a 'free' as its his lifelong dream to play for the rags.

He's on the Capello index as an attacking mid,
Oh well if he is on that......

But I found another:

. He is described as a "a defensive midfielder with a box to box style of play, contributing in large part to the defense and the attack. With a powerful shot and great passing range, Fernandinho has played in important part in breaking up opposition attacks and creating goal scoring opportunities
He went to Shaktar as an attacking midfielder, his duties became more disciplined as Shaktar found another outstanding attacking midfileder in Mkhitaryan, he will play in an advanced role for us.

The Premier League runners-up concluded talks over a deal to bring the Montenegro international to England on Monday, with the forward undergoing medical tests in Florence

EXCLUSIVE
By Paul Clennam

Manchester City have agreed a £23.3 million plus add-ons deal with Fiorentina for attacker Stevan Jovetic, Goal can reveal.

The 23-year-old's agent, Fali Ramadani, is set to travel to Manchester to meet with City sporting director Txiki Begiristain in the next 24 hours, with club officials confident of completing the move following those talks.

City have agreed to a package that meets Fiorentina's €30m (£26m) asking price, with €27m (£23.3m) set to be paid up front and a further €3m (£2.6m) to be paid in performance-related bonuses.

Jovetic visited the Fanfani Medical Centre in Florence for tests on Monday, accompanied by the Serie A side's doctor, Jacopo Giuliattini.

City, who have sent a large group of staff to South Africa as part of their pre-season tour, also conducted similar assessments on Jesus Navas in Seville before his £18.5m move to the Etihad Stadium in June.

Jovetic was later followed by Mario Gomez, who is set to complete his transfer from Bayern Munich to the Florence outfit imminently.

Ramadani met with Begiristain at Mottram Hall last week to discuss terms, with City set to pay Jovetic an £80,000-a-week salary package on arrival in Manchester.

The clubs have maintained a good relationship harboured following Stefan Savic's move from Manchester to Fiorentina last summer.

City also hope to secure Alvaro Negredo, whom they have targeted in an attempted double swoop with Jovetic.

Kompany arrived at City as a DM, would you still state he is one or a CB?

Fernandinho has been at Shaktar for 8 years. He has played a DM/CM role for longer than he ever played (if he did before) AM.

Either way, he was signed as a box to box CM/DM, he will not be replacing Silva/Nasri.

If he does I shall log off for 3 months, care to take the bet?
