Man City's €25m Jovetic bid rejected

It is reported Manchester City have made a new €25m offer for Stevan Jovetic, but Fiorentina want at least €30m.

The Montenegro international is hot property on the transfer market and already saw offers come in over the summer from the likes of Juventus, Inter and Chelsea.

The British media claim Manchester City increased their proposal to €25m today after seeing his fine start to the Serie A season.

However, the Viola continue to hold out for at least €30m, although ideally the price-tag is closer to €35m.

Very technical and talented, however he's now permanently playing up front for Fiorentina so unless Mancini moved him behind the strikers again he would be Aguero's new strike partner which could suit them both I think.

Stevan Jovetic has insisted he does not know whether Manchester City are interested in signing him but admits he only has a 50 per cent chance of staying at Fiorentina.

The Montenegro international has performed well in Serie A this season and says he has no plans to leave at the current time.

However, he thinks it would be wrong to rule anything out and has acknowledged it is flattering to be linked with clubs such as City.

"I feel very good here in Florence. I am very happy with the team, the club and the people," he told Corriere dello Sport.

"As I always say, in football everything can happen, and I don't want to deceive anyone because you never know.

"Is there a 50 per cent chance that I will continue at Fiorentina? Yes, but now I am not thinking about the market, I am not thinking of leaving.

"The interest from Manchester City? I know nothing about it but it is good to hear rumours about my work."

Jovetic's immediate focus is on helping Fiorentina build on a fine first half to the season and secure European qualification, amid reports that a move could be triggered by a good enough offer in January.

He said: "A buyout clause of €40million (£32.5m) on my contract? We still have to talk with the club, but now my priority is to return to European Cups with Fiorentina."

Jovetic added: "This Fiorentina team has surprised me. I thought it would take time to build a completely new group but instead we are doing great things.

"Now we have to continue on this path without being satisfied."

TBH i think this is the deal txiki will try to make it happen in the summer...tevez will entry in his last year contract and we will need a player who can play behind aguero...jovetic is the perfect man for this and this story is true then this will be a done deal in summer

Not much at all mate, mostly last season and nothing this current one.
I thought Jovetic's main position was as an AMC, not primarily a striker.

No disrespect TC, but if you think that, I suggest you watch a bit more of him. His injury robbed him of what I think may have been a very good season in terms of goals scored in 2011. On talent alone, he's worth more than what I'd pay for Mario.
I agree that he's not a goalscorer in the truest sense, such as Falcao or Guidetti may be, or at least hasn't proved himself to be so as of yet. That said, give him the numebr ten shirt, and play him in that role behind Sergio, he'll bring us a shitload of goals and assists.
