Known Steve Fleet from being a child, as a team mate of my Dad when he played for Altrincham. For the past two seasons he has sat in front of me in the NEC under the scoreboard and he would always say hello and as we hobbled down the corridor at the end we’d share a one sentence match summary. He was a regular until the last couple of matches. I’ll miss looking out for him. A lovely man. Rest peacefully Mr Fleet.

A true lifelong City fan, football man & proud Mancunian.

Was in school & Manchester Boys teams with Neil Young,David Wagstaff & some lads that died in the plane crash.

A real good lad.

I’ve just posted an interview I did with Steve a few years back. It’s free to read and he talks about his City career in it:

What a row there'd be if that Alex Dawson "goal" happened today. I wonder what Steve said to the ref after the goal was given, probably just had to shrug and carry on without much drama. (Wonder what Bert might have said, too!)

Good article and photo - Fleet's hands look nearly as big as Trautmann's.
