Need to get him in the middle. I'd have him there over Gareth Barry every day of the week.

Spot on mate....comfortably his best position. And to be fair to him, part of the reason I think he's struggled is because he's been asked to play in different positions due to injuries etc.

Totally agree. Our system doesn't suit him. He's wasted in the wide positions. He was much better in the holding role at weekend but I see him as a box to box 4-4-2 midfielder.

Ireland in a two man midfield? Footballing suicide. He reminds me of Iniesta, good touch, good eye for a pass and goal, can dribble it well, he could of been our Iniesta but as has been said his mentality is not upto being a top tier footballer his abilty should allow him to.

We're talking about Milner.

Ireland's clearly better in the "hole" in a 5 man midfield

Watched him against Blackburn, when Villa played that system, you know what he was bobbins, Ireland is not good enough to have a team suited to him, David Silva on the other hand.............

Not a suprise all his best games have been in the middle. brought in as a replacement for Barry? or to work alongside him?

Funny you should mention the wide position, as the game that started him off was against West Ham and provided 2 assists, that game imo was his best, so not being able to play outwide has been knocked on the head.

If Milner had Ste's technical ability - he'd be some player too...:- )

Dead right. I said it at the time and I'll say it again...a shocking piece of business from City.

Yes, him getting loaned out to Newcastle instead of Barcelona was just a coincidence.

He's played about 12 times out wide and I've yet to see him have decent game there. Too slow, not clever enough and too many runs down blind alleys.
