Stockport County Relegated

Personally I had no hatred towards the club, but only the fans.

As my sort of 'local' club I feel sorry for them, however, had to live with the jibes from the fans of being the bottom club a decade ago. So no tears shed here.

So are you telling me that you wouldn't have done the same?

We where shite in those days and they, just like Oldham where having their day in the sun!! Just like us when the most important win was against the rags!!

That's our problem, we can give it out, but don't like it up us!!

Delighted they are gone and yes I took it from them and it is now time for them to take it from me!! Good riddance to bad rubbish.

When we were down in the lower divisions I couldn't stand the way the County fans were towards anything City related, that Tony Dining goal etc. However, I can see why they beating us meant so much to them (I don't agree with many of their fans acting without any dignity in victory) if you're an average county fan it must get on your nerves the amount of publicity and talk there is about city and united. Then suddenly one of them is in the same division as you, and you actually beat them, well you can understand them getting carried away (not the way they gloated) I for one will never be glad to see a team go down, I still remember when we got relegated from the Premier League for the first time and that hurt far more than the other relegations. Its never nice when you consider the time and money fans invest into a club. Hopefully we've had our share of experiences like that for a long time.

A very good post IMO!!

Of course they got carried away, but they where beating a bigger club, even when they where gloating they knew that one day we would be back up amongst the elite. So I can understand why they acted as they did!!

Can anyone on here say they would have done differently?

The point was that many years ago when Stockport played on a Friday night, more than quite a few City fans lent them their support both vocally and financially, unlike the rags. Therefore, it stuck in quite a few Blue throats, not just because their fans gloated after their Maine Road win, but because of their short memories.
