Stockport County Relegated

The point was that many years ago when Stockport played on a Friday night, more than quite a few City fans lent them their support both vocally and financially, unlike the rags. Therefore, it stuck in quite a few Blue throats, not just because their fans gloated after their Maine Road win, but because of their short memories.

I had a season ticket at County 1977/8 when they played on Friday nights, it was only when they wanted money from the pools that they started playing home games on a Saturday!!!
I used to go County home on a Friday, City wherever on the Saturday, and away with County when City were not playing.
On the Friday, out of a crowd of 1700 there were prob 200+ that you knew were City and would be there at Maine Road tomorrow!!!

City played them in every friendly and even bought players (Bill Williams) and then sold them back for a fraction of the original transfer fee.

But they inherited wananbe Rags who supposedly could not get tickets for the swamp and then the real fans were poisoned, by the rags, and became more bitter than the reds!!!

So bye, bye! I for one wont be shedding any tears!! ;-)

I don't mind people laughing that they got relegated if they don't like them, but it's the fact the OP and others are gloating that they will go out of business which pisses me off!!

I just think that if your club is that badly run and you can gloat and think how great you are when your club is being mismanaged in the process then you deserve what comes to you.

I know they are local club, but their fans chose to give it out good style in our hour of need. I don't remember getting the same sh*t from other local clubs like Oldham or Bury around that time, I do remember getting chased down Wellington road with the missus by 8-10 twentysomethings when she was 5 months pregnant, thinking they were clever and shouting "you are history!, you are history!"

So I have to say as regards to fans you can stick them alongside your scum and Stoke fans as the fans I detest the most!

Mad zab - you seem to be the minority. Most people on this thread have an axe to grind with county including me, it's fuck all to do with the money. I've always hated them since they beat us back in the day and some of the stories my old man told me about Friday night games and announcers laughing whilst we're getting beat... Fuck em.

Don't really know how u can say this being a stockport lad like myself, maybe people with nothing to do with stockport but surely u were taken to the odd county game as a kid jase cmon mate I for one will be very sad if they go under I don't care what league there in or if they lose 5-0 every week but as I said I'm from Stockport and hope they get out ov this mess I tell u what if I won the euromillions next week there problems would be gone CTID

I dont understand all this hatred either tbh. They are a local team and i dont like seeing any local teams in trouble. Years ago they had a right to give us stick because they were in the same league as us and they beat us on our own patch, but now, different ball game, its bad for football if teams like county and chester go out of business.

William me good mate :) didn't go Stockport as a kid, the old mucka wouldn't let me, I only moved there for high school then moved back! Obviously I'd be sad to see them go under but their support is almost rag like nowadays.
