stockport county

I too was pleased County went down and was listening to BBC Hereford & Worcester commentary as they cover Kidderminster Harriers. The delay because of the County fans causing trouble just prolonged the inevitable.

cheadle is in stockport and always has been. I know a fair few (cheadle) county fans tbh. Its right next to manchester, so a few mancs are bound to move there. But in my eyes cheadle is and always has been stockport, postcode, council and people.

Im sorry but you are fucking wrong wrong wrong.

Buxton has a Stockport post code, do you think they fell Stockfordian? Dont talk shit.

Cheadle has fuck all to do with Stockport, never has and never fucking will. Its a seperate town bunched together for council purposes.

Im a Manc born and bred and feel no more affection to Stockport than i do Southport as they are both fuck all to do with where i live, the people i grew up with or the City of my birth.

Cheadle is in stockport, you are wrong, wrong wrong :). Drive out of cheadle and Go into parswood and there is even a sign saying welcome to manchester. I get your a manc who feels like cheadle is in manchester, but its not. I have lived in cheadle, got family in cheadle and now live next door to it and its always felt like stockport because it is. Im cheadle born and bread and feel more affection to stockport than manchester. the reason you dont feel affection to stockport is cos youre not from stockport or cheadle- your from manchester.

Dont see your point with buxton, stockport is a big area, just because a lot of the residental areas arent right next to the town centre doesnt mean they are not stockport.

from wiki Cheadle (pron.: /ˈtʃiːdəl/) is a suburb in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport

Cheadle was historically an ecclesiastical parish known as "Cheadle Bulkeley"

Following the Municipal Corporations Act 1835,Cheadle Bulkeley was amalgamated into the Municipal Borough of Stockport.

if i am wrong and wiki is wrong then im sorry :) cheadle has in the main always been in stockport, how far do you want to go back, cos according to wiki it has been since 1835 at least. There maybe mancs like you that move to cheadle, but its right next to manchester thats gonna happen.

Cheadle is now a township within Stockport MBC, in much earlier times it was a parish in the Hundred of Macclesfield and later became an urban district within the Municipal Borough of Stockport in 1835. As such it has always much to do with the Stockport having been connected to it since antiquity. The combined population of the manors of Cheadle Bulkeley & Cheadle Moseley in 1801 was 2478 compared to the Barony of Stockport's 14,830. The various parts of what is now Manchester & Salford at the time was about 328,000.

Cheadle used to be part of Cheadle and Gatley UDC until April 1974. The boundary with Stockport used to be Cheadle Heath, roughly where the railway bridge goes over the road. Since 1974, it's part of Stockport MBC. A bit like Radcliffe is now part of Bury and Middleton is now part of Rochdale. Didn't use to be.

Not that it matters!

With respect, that's just wrong. Before 1974 Cheadle & Gatley UDC was still a part of Stockport County Borough and before that part of the Municipal Borough. It matters to some sad people like me!
