Stockport County

Glad to see them doing well. Who knows? If they get promoted to the Championship, and we get relegated as punishment for the 115… ??
Grudge match, time to settle old scores.

So many games against them wind me up to fuck. That last time we played them at theirs in Keegan's promotion season when they were rock-bottom and we were top, yet we still contrived to lose 2-1. Granted, Goater got sent off making our job harder but we should've still seen them off. Even worse was that I think both their goals were scored by some bloke called Hardiker who was a defender. In his entire career there, he played over 100 games and only scored 3 goals FFS!

One amusing aspect of that winning goal was that it kicked off in the corner of the Cheadle End and the side terracing where our fans were. There was a pitch invasion from their fans and some of ours jumped onto the perimeter, one of whom launched the corner flag into their end. I shouldn't laugh really as it could've taken someone's eye out but it was that good a throw that I thought Tessa Sanderson had come out of retirement that night to re-enact her Gold Medal heroics from the 1984 LA Olympics!

I see Tom Mahon their now ex-COO is leaving after 2 years....he went there from Head of Hospitality (?) at City.
From that post seems to have had a lot of success in the role....assumed it was a permanent/long term role....or was it a 2 year deal?

My second team.
Always keep an eye on what they are doing and I've them * in the Fotmob app.

Can't believe they are in the league 1 playoffs.

I'm not sure they will stay there given they were non league not long ago but they've avoided yo-yoing admirably on the rise.

They also beat Layton orient last week.....

Signed a few players today and Micah Hamilton couple of weeks ago.

Doing well in first season back in league one. Competitive division with teams like Bolton getting in excess of 15k crowds. The new stand when it’s built should make County more competitive when it’s up to 18k.

Seen them 3 times this season beating Wrexham, Shrewsbury and drawing against Birmingham.

City and our fans helped keep them going with regular friendlies in the 60s etc.

No thanks or acknowledgement.

Scruffy place with scruffy odd balls.

Fuck em !!

The owner is a City fan.
I regularly went to watch them on a Friday night in the 'Go Go Go County' days.

JIm Fryatt and Len Allchurch up front leading the attack, often being obscured by the smoke and steam drifting over the pitch from the train depot just behind the open terrace opposite the Cheadle end we sat in, and I regarded them, after Altrincham, as my next best team for years.

They got a bit giddy with themselves 25 years or so when we were in the same division, and it turned me off them so much, I've never given them a thought since then.

I used to look for their result for years. I haven't bothered looking now for ages.

As you say. 'Fuck em'.

Used to go there on a Friday in the late 70s just to watch a game, then off to see City at 15.00 on a Saturday home or away.
