Stoke-on-Trent

Middleton is in manchester, i live there, the post code is m24 and the telephone code is 0161, if it was rochdale it would be OL and the phone code would be 01706.

scholes is a dick anyway everyone round here knows it. apart from united fans and hangers on that think the sun shines outta his arse, but to say he isnt a manc is ridiculous and totally clutching at straws.

Are those all towns that were eventually built right into the city? That's kind of happening with Stittsville and Ottawa now. Stittsville is pretty much linked with Kanata through Hazeldean road and around The Scotiabank Place. I'm not sure if it's an actual burrough of Ottawa yet though.

All the towns around and Manchester have expanded over the years so there's little green space to tell where one ends and the others begin. Manchester and Salford have always been butted up against each other. Historically they were all separate entities which was somewhat muddied in the 70's when a region called Greater manchester was created for administrative reasons and encompassed not only many distinct towns but parts of 4 historical counties. Town pride has always been important in these parts and is partly the reason behind the bickering, most people from Salford I know insist on it's separate identity despite it only being separated by the width of the Irwell river (about 30 yards) from Manchester.
Old Trafford has always been outside the city of Manchester. Hope this helps.

ps the niceties of Ottawa's geography are totally lost on me, sorry :)

Bit of a weird one actually, cos i pay manchester council and langley seem to do that too, yet just looked on net and, even though i live the totally other side of middleton to langley, between the two areas seems to be rochdale council. strange. anyway ive never considered myself to be from rochdale, i was born in crumpsal, live in middleton and if anything im two mins away from oldham and about ten from manchester yet rochdale is further away than both!
Im a manc.

i don't like using it but:

Middleton is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England.[1] It stands on the River Irk, 4.7 miles (7.6 km) south-southwest of Rochdale, and 5.1 miles (8.2 km) north-northeast of the city of Manchester. At the time of the United Kingdom Census 2001, Middleton had a population of 45,580.
Historically a part of Lancashire, Middleton took its name from being situated in the centre of several circumjacent settlements. Its early history is marked by its status as an ecclesiastical parish of the hundred of Salford, held successively by a series of notable ruling families. In 1770, Middleton was a village of 20 houses; during the 18th and 19th centuries it grew into a thiving and populous seat of textile manufacture, so much so that Middleton was granted borough status in 1886.

NOT Manchester
