Stoke post match thread

First half possibly the worst we have played at home all season. Slow, sloppy, lack of control, no creativity. Not one player stood out.

Second half much better once Silva came on. Personally my view is if one of our key players is missing then we don't rest another. It was a mistake for me as was not bringing him on at half time.

Poor performances from Fernandinho who must have given the ball away more times than I have ever seen. De Bruyne who should be doing much better than that when given the role as playmaker although he got better when Silva came on.

Clichy was as bad as he always is.

Poor result that and I expect to see a strong team Saturday after that. I doubt I will though as clearly the CL is once again the priority.

Stoke were dross but defended well.

hughs was never gonna give an inch tonight and was over the moon with a draw, we need the option of a dzeko type player against teams like that and also i think its better to have silva and toure on the pitch together to open em up as well but we wont come across a team as well drilled as that too often

Silva did eventually come on - but I'm sure the apparent resting of players would have given Stoke a boost a belief they could get something.
We should have had enough to beat them but perhaps the attitude that we could take them more lightly also got to the players.
MIssed passes, poor passes, bad decision making, poor finishing.

We looked leggy and flat from the off. Couldn't believe how poor Fernandinho (looks to have peaked with us and maybe needs replacing) and KDB were tonight. Only when Silva came on and KDB moved wide did Kev find some room to operate and put in a few good crosses as up till then he was really inept. Stoke were resolute, organised and shackled Sane well. We needed someone with a bit of magic and no one came through for us tonight.

Clichy getting a lot of stick here and I fully agree with it but let's not forget about our right back who is arguably even worse. I don't ever remember seeing a more negative full back at the club. Get the ball, turn inside, pass to centre back and repeat for 90mins. Fucking garbage.

Pep once again underestimated the opposition. Result = a loss of two points which at the end of the season might be significant. Pep is pep and he thinks he knows everything. Will he learn from this, probably not.

Pep dropped Sterling, Silva and Stones. Navas did fuck all. Our creativity suffered. Off the top of my head we had 1 shot on target.

Nolito started then? And created little?

You lot seem to be lacking a bit of the home pitch bounce a Pep team normally enjoys, it's curious

I love KDB but he's a moments player who can be off colour for 89 mins and change the game with one move and will be huge for us for the next 6/7 years or so. Silva and Yaya control games and want it to flow through them. Yaya is getting on and Silva will need more rests as we move forward As he isn't getting any younger either. We will need another key cog in the summer... Isco? Or that lad at Monaco who I can't remember the name of who seems identicle to a young Silva with a wand of a left foot.We need a tempo setter but a creative attacking one... they are rare though.

That was about as dull as it gets, unless you favour the sideways pass.

Got to say with the exception of the odd half of football we've been very underwhelming at home in the Premier League this season. Quite strange that such an esteemed coach as Pep has served up alot of ordinary football without seemingly having a plan b.

FA Cup or bust now I reckon.

Again, Sane, KDB and Aguero all played 90 minutes.

You want to blame Pep, fine, but don't underrate our team so much to suggest they weren't capable of beating Stoke. They had enough opportunities to see the game off and didn't.

No what I'm saying is momentum is key in winning games and in the past 8 games City's won 7 and drawn 1, all of which had Silva and Sterling starting bar Huddersfield away.

Perhaps you should go and support Barcelona then.
How about no. With the benefit of hindsight, watching the greatest European comeback ever, would certainly have been better than watching a 0-0 bore fest. That is quite clear. You don't have to be a Barca fan to wish you'd watched a match of theirs. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp, but I'll help you out further if you need it.
