Stoke post match

Why are people (the pundits) downplaying Stoke? They defended as how Pl teams tend to defend and was physical most times, we just crowded them out and beat them with the pace of the ball. Even Arnautovic was defending.

Good solid first half performance, second half was scrappy from both sides until our subs put the game to bed. A couple of posters on the pre-match thread thought our bench looked weak FFS!!

Because Stoke fans are cunts.

The treatment towards Raheem is despicable. However, he got them to shut up after the first 30 mins or so. If he continues to play like this all the booing will be a thing of the past.

I wish that shot Raheem took between 5 Stoke defenders was a goal.

Really good 3 points. Tough place to win. Certainly not the stylish play we had midweek, but considering there must be a lot of tired legs out there we still ran 10km further than Stoke as a team, this match was won with hard work! Well done lads, don't think we'd have won that last year.

Also might have to go find the guys on the transfer forum that said we had no impact players on our bench to which I disagreed hmm... Great impact from Nacho & Nolito.
That 1st half was about as stylish as you can get. What more do you want than a 4-1 win away at Stoke. We had football in the 1st half, and inever allowed a very physical team to intimidate us. We've got skill, and we've got heart. With luck we'll do very well this season

Great performance, great result, great work ethic, great team work and great management.

Brilliant that was today simply brilliant.
That's what I was expecting to see when I logged on, but a few negative comments. I was blown away first half. Elated. I need to calm down.

Im amazed noone mentioned the bardsley tackle in the first half...two footed studs raised..luckily silva got his leg out of the way....nothing mentioned on commentary except that it was a strong challenge......! He should have seen red for dangerous play

Yep & the attempt to do Silva's ankle which went unpunished by a card whilst Sterling got a yelllow for touching Shawcross in the penalty area

Great win in the end against a tough opponent. The counter pressing was tremendous in the first 20 minutes or so, completely suffocating Stoke. But after that intensity seemed to go out of our press somewhat - probably the squad lacks a bit of fitness still as a whole.

Squad depth is very impressive - Nacho and Nolito coming on were very impressive.

Crazy penalty against Sterling - make up call by Dean?

MoTM - Fernandinho.

Willy did OK at the back with a nice save - but his distribution still needs work. Bravo will improve us a lot at the back.

Oh and we need to acknowledge Pep's substitutions, he couldn't have got them more right, the timing and the choice of players killed the game for them.

Midweek was absolute class in terms of style, this was far more of a graft. Personally don't care which way we do it so long as we do it. Like you say though we've shown the skill & we've shown the heart - outrunning their team by 10km would never have happened last year, if we can keep that work rate throughout the year we'll be so much tougher to beat than last year.

Thought the first half we played better, the passing was a bit sharper. In the second half thought Navas and KDB didn't do themselves justice really. Navas is frustrating to watch as his final ball often fails to find a man and create a real chance to score. Thought we looked better when Nolito came on, and Nacho played really well in the short period of time he had. Stones looks great, and Otto seems to stay on his feet more. They will create a great partnership. 3 points at Stoke, that'll do nicely so soon into the new regime.

So happy with that result, not bad when subs produce two goals, things looking good with quality players to come back from injury.

Adding to the shithouse tackling by the six fingered bastards, did anyone spot the forearm smash by Whelan on Aguero after he'd scored the second?
