Stoke post match

We limited them to very few chances. We looked far more dangerous than them going forward. We won comfortably at a place we normally struggle at... and yet still some people aren't happy. I really do despair.

With stones being man of the match for me that says we didn't play our best game but I don't give a fuck about performances now . The first 6.games is about points gel the team together get confidence going and scare our opposition before the next game . We haven't done well at Stoke in the past its a hard away ground to play at 4 goals and 3 points is fantastic

We were not at our fluent best but stones received the plaudits for his passing and composure on the ball rather than his defensive work. Defensively we were rarely troubled.

Could not believe the venom from Quinn towards us today. We were not as good as Wednesday, but the wind was causing havoc, Stoke left some meaty challenges on us and we were very wasteful with the ball when we had simple passes to make to kill the game. But after Dean awarded the penalty to make up for the one he didn't give them in the 1st half, Stoke barely got a look in because of our great defensive work and midfield closing down. No it wasn't a magical performance but the type that we were crying out for last season.

I think were all happy mate. Its a great win but just highlights the sides potential when playing at full throttle

Middle aged Stokie fan getting home: Hello mum it was good at the match today

Mum: Oh good, did they win?

Stokie: Oh no but we got to boo Sterling loads of times. It were great, mum.

Mum: Oh good I am glad you enjoyed yourself. Have you met a nice girl yet?

What sort of pricks boo all the time like they did? Grown men who seemed to be holding the breath ready and hoping the ball would go to Sterling just so they could boo, the highlight of their match.
Mum also said, "cheer up son, I've made oatcakes for tea, and I will have finished knitting your six fingered gloves later!"

Forgettable ? I'll always remember this game for the hard work and effort put in by the players today.
Horses for courses mate, it was all about the 3 points not the performance and that's what counts away to Stoke. As for forgettable, I won't be recalling this match any time soon apart from to say Pep has silenced those who said he was a fair weather coach who couldn't engineer a win away at Stoke on a wet, windy Tuesday night in January.

Well he dealt with 2 out of the 5 criteria today! :-)

There is a lot more match fitness to come, from ALL teams. I still think when we're fully up to pace
and this new system becomes habit, we will be an absolute delight. I can see myself watching
a lot more recordings this season, rather than just delete them. ;-)
