Stoke Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Before you all criticise too much consider that City have lost Kompany, Demichelis, Richards and Clichy. That is our best back 4!!!

We've got through a difficult fixture when we were very much weakened.

I think we will now start to move forward

Well one of them has never played for us and another not much recently but admittedly we have lost 2 of our best back 4. However, despite looking understandably shaky, the back 4 wasn't the major issue today as we somehow kept a clean sheet. I don't remember us creating a clear cut chance in the whole 90 minutes though and that was the most worrying.

I feel like I need to go in and scream at Yaya, and whoever insists the twat plays as a 3rd CB in the most useless role since...since....something.

Yaya is the biggest wasted talent ever.

Pulling my hair out. Giving everyone plenty of time this season, but Nasri gets no more. It is painful to watch.

Absolutely. His strength has never been as a defensive midfielder

I accept that, but we cannot keep making excuses for players missing, that's why clubs have a SQUAD.
If everytime we play bad, we say, "oh well so and so was missing". Well that isn't an excuse.
The players that are put out as Manchester City, should be up to scratch, and should certainly show
passion if everything else isn't quite right. We all have an off day.
But as we know, this isn't a one off this season.
I agree. A player was missing, so we had to bring in a player that would be Stoke's star player if he happened to play for them. It's not an excuse. The area with the most injuries is defence, and we still got a clean sheet.

I don't think many are complaining about the defending today, but rather the continuing theme of lethargic attacking. We created one really decent clear cut chance in 90 minutes, Jovetic's volley that went over. Everything else was poor long range efforts.

I'm a big fan of Pellegrini and he will need time to implement his style, but my concern is that besides the Newcastle game we look near identical to Mancini's stagnating team from last season.

What style is that? All I saw were over-hit long balls, and lethargic slow passing.

Why bring Navas on and instead of him acting the winger then have Zaba' overlapping him? Wasn't as if Zaba acted the foil for him.

Our recent history at Stoke in the league suggests we were bound to draw! They've had their best start in years and we've stuttered. Admittedly I'm feeling underwhelmed but onwards and upwards! Let's hope they've been saving those big performances for Tuesday and Sunday!

Really, so our best back four includes someone who's never even played for the team.
