Stop fracking

I find it ironic that the anti-frackers, who use some unproven safety argument to dismiss fracking are equally pro-wind power. They obviously are unaware of the safety issues regarding wind power. 144 people have been killed as a result of wind power, the majority of which were in the last 10 years. There have also been multiple accidents causing injury and damage. I suggest you look at the link below.

In comparison, the worst nuclear accident in the last 10 years, Fukushima, caused no direct deaths. The long term deaths due to cancer are predicted to be extremely low to none according to the World Health Organisation.

So as well as being useless (as stated earlier), wind power is also dangerous.
Well, Mr Factsheet, do you also go on forums as An Inspector Calls, or are you just yet another shill?

You might think differently when your water is poisoned...
You know it doesn't make sense!
Personally, I don't mind wind turbines - we've got to have something.

Well done for posting this, op.

Unlike in rural America were the water comes from a local well. My water comes from a tap which is connected via pipes to a water treatment center. Which would minimize the chance of my water ever being poisoned as it is tested rigorously.

Oh well, that's all right then, as long as YOUR drinking water isn't poisoned, it doesn't matter what happens to the natural water table that supplies the rest of the environment.

I imagine we drill oil out of the sea to help the whales

Isn't it annoying when facts get in the way of biased opinion.

Regarding An Inspector Calls, I haven't a clue what you're on about. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Hydraulic Fracturing has been used for at least 65 years as far as i know no body has been poisoned by contaminated water because of it or killed by micro earthquakes either, there is also the possibility that under Lancashire there are natural gas reserves to rival those of the USA where wholesale gas prices have dropped by two thirds, if the industry is properly regulated by independent bodies then I say go for it. On the other hand will this wind fall benefit the people of this country or fill the pockets of a few in and around French(British) Gas that i'm more concerned about than the drilling or the use of fossil fuels.

NO, NO, NO, this Mancunian is not for turning.

My Opinions
- The local community will hardly see any benefits that outweigh the potential long term damage. As a previous poster has put, it has a typical Tory feel about it. Energy prices MAY go down (my guess is by a pittance) but it will hardly compensate for the large profits that the energy companies will hoard for themselves and shareholders.

- Potential damage to water supply, affecting human health. Why do the big cheeses in the US energy companies not want go head to head with the documentary makes and the sceptics? Why do they stop interviews when the going gets tough? I have little faith in politics here and thus this industry being legislated effectively. Money talks.

- It comes across as selfish short termism to me. "I'll be gone by the time these long term effects may happen so I'm not arsed. GIVE IT TO ME!"
