Stopped Smoking

30 a day for 40 years stopped in November 2010 using Champix through the doctors and took it for three months twice a day.
Not smoked since
Kills the craving stone dead.
If you are serious speak to your GP about it forget the patches, tried cold turkey at first now that did send me crazy, could not handle it. Used to dream I was smoking.

Cold turkey is the best way. The dreams I had were incredible. I shagged Kelly Brook every night for 6 months before it started to wear off.
The wife used to tell me I had been smiling all night. Hope she does'nt read this.

Tried every way, countless times.

Cold Turkey does it but it murder for a while.

Champix finally did it for me and makes it easy.

Nearly two years for me after smoking for the best part of 30 years. As someone has already said on here you've got to WANT to give up. For me it was a mate's dad in hospital about to loose a lag because of a smoking related bloodcot and at the same time a family friend had a heart attack - how much more motivation does one need?!. Oh and I've not even mentioned my daughter - again motivation.

I had patches for about a week - until I realised that the things kept falling off and I think I'm allergic to them... I also had an Inhalator which was awesome just puffed on that endlessley for the first few months.

I think anyone giving up needs to be aware that you will ALWAYS feel like a cig in the future. Don't be disheartened by the bloke down the pub who last had one 80 years ago and could still murder one! The differance after giving up is that wanting a cig comes and goes fleetingly and that it certainly doesn't 'hurt' in that craving sense like when your addicted and trying to give up.

Good luck!

I stopped over seven years ago - incentives were impending fatherhood, money, health, and my neighbours......

...lived in a flat with two old dears downstairs - one was fit and healthy, one I ended up inflating her dead corpse and keeping her heart beating for 15 mins whilst the ambulance got there. she was a smoker - she was seventy odd and no - I didn't slip my tounge in..... (could have been an "inbetweeners moment")
