Stories of meeting City fans in unusual places

The one I love is the City fan I, and hundreds of others met in Nice train station. We were all over for the Monaco game and had to get the train front Nice.
The scruffiest looking train guard was mithering everyone shaking hands, smiling and talking gibberish (OK French) in a fast unintelligible dialect. Suddenly he opened his uniformed coat to reveal a City shirt. Whilst all his colleagues carried on working he stood chatting (no one got a word in edgeways and we couldn'tView attachment 46487 understand him) and having his photo taken.
I put this photo on a gay dating site for you.

Most surprising encounter was as follows. I used to work in Saudi many years ago and was driving from Riyadh to a place called Hail in the north. It's just desert everywhere for hundreds of miles and I stopped to fill up at this little place in the middle of nowhere...nobody else was around. Amazingly this guy appeared to take the money and he had a Manchester City cap on...I think gobsmacked would be the best word to describe my reaction haha!!!. I pointed to his hat and tried to talk to him about City but sadly he didn't speak a word of English. I just gave him the thumbs up sign and he did the same. Will always wonder how a guy like that ended up with that cap...could it be someone on Bluemoon I wonder.

Went with a mate to a pre season tour to Shanghai in China round about 2007.
The route we took was Manc to Istanbul/Beijing/Shanghai. Decided to have a one night stopover in Beijing, went into a small bar with just a few people in, clocked a guy with a casual shirt on with the City Crest. Went over had a good chat and a few more drinks. Turned out he'd been working there for a few years as an English teacher and was from Cheetham Hill, and had no idea City were playing in Shanghai. He said he'd look into going there but Shanghai was around 6/700 miles away.
I remember how fluent his Chinese was when he spoke to the locals.
Never saw him again.
I made that trip also although I was working in Indonesia at the time so was fairly easy to get to. Had a fantastic week in Shanghai, I recall there was a group of City fans there from Perth, Australia.

Not so much a person but a photo.

Went to Canberra in Australia probably around 20 years ago.

Taking pride of place in the Kingston (Kingo) Hotel was a photo of our Bell, Lee, Summerbee era team resplendent with trophies won at the time.

Was amazing, you just didn't expect to see a lot of City around Australia in those days.

Wonder if its still there.

That was a bit of a crazy trip all round. I flew to Genoa [Italy) and then the train. Very messy. City fans (without tickets) took over the Royal Yacht Club to watch the game on TV. Never mind the result.

This has got more likes on here than it did on the gay dating site

The first day of my walk from JoG to Lands End was May 18th 2019. On the Friday night I’d stayed in Wick and scoped out the local Spoons so I could watch the game. With a deadline of 5pm for ko I had a brisk 20 odd mile to get back to Wick. Managed to find a quiet corner with a tv in pole position. A bloke came and sat on the table next to me and after 10 mins of me kicking every ball he asked the obvious question… are you a city fan? Turns out he was as well, him and his mate were cycling the NW500 (his mate was a rag who he’d left putting up their tent). Pete from Cornwall if you happen to read this I managed the next 62 days and 1200 miles - it was great sharing a great game with you, I hope you’re still cycling!

David Conn probably gave it to him.

Another from me - a German barmaid in Köln. I didn’t believe her and thought she was just telling me what she thought I wanted to hear but she showed me photos of her in City shirts on her phone.

I bought her a red rose to signify the rose on the badge. On the flight home two days later, my eldest advised me to delete the photo as his Mum might not understand what I was trying to achieve.
