Storm Dudley/Eunice/Franklin

The Met Office have just categorised storms based on their danger. It’s to honour the Worlds greatest bestest team.
Storm Mo.
Do not go out under any circumstance. You will keep falling over for no reason.
Storm Trent.
You will only be able to move effectively in one direction. Attempts to turn around will leave you hopelessly exposed.
Storm Jordan
Only possible to move sideways in a crablike fashion. Forward movement is not possible
Storm Robbo
Serious danger from falling signage.
Storm Jurgen
High winds making football impossible and likely to end in defeat.
Storm Bobby
High volume of snow leading to a whiteout.
Storm Dipper
Imminent danger to transport caused by bottles and bricks.

Wind really picking up, I jinxed it earlier and take full resposibility.

Good thing too as I got by step-daughter to stay off school and my girlfriend hasn't been happy at the lack of any storm.

'It's just media hype ''
It is indeed. What we going to have reports every time some tiles slide off roofs?

I agree the wind was stronger than usual and a couple of trees have fallen over but there have been high winds in the last few months that were worse in terms of damage done. Nothing particularly spectacular. The high winds that caused the midweek Sunderland game to be called off was worse.

It’s rarer for the southerners, so it’s novel for them each time it happens every 15 years or so.

It arrived about an hour ago, think i will lose some branches, hopefully none of my trees

Let merlin go out early as it wasnt too bad then with instructions not to do his fav thing which is climbing trees and going on the roof ..straight up a tree, sigh
Is Merlin your husband Kaz?

Really taking off here in the Country of Eccles!! I had to nip out to Worsley and back and going was ok, coming back wooooaaaahhhh the trees were bending very low. There's a stretch of road with trees on both sides and it was a tad scary but no harm done! I got home safe and sound and now I am going to put the heating on (think I can afford a few extra hours in the circumstances! :-) ) and watch TV.

A good laugh beckons so I'm going to watch the Apprentice from last night. Ta ta for now.

What's the issue? If some areas are really bad, which seems to be the case then being reported as such shouldn't bother anybody as it as it may help prevent injury or worse. If you're lucky enough to be in an area where the weather is fine then just get on with your day. Why does it bother anybody what the news is telling you? You're all grown ups, you can decide yourself if it's a bit of wind or not.
It's actually very easy to avoid the news channels if you so wish. I've managed it for about 20 years.

there's a lot more damage than just some roof tiles going on right now
100,000 without power, Lorries blown over on motorway, scaffolding being bought down and someone has just died by a falling tree

would be a lot worse if they just let all services run as normal and pretended nothing was going on

Was supposed to be seeing simply red (don’t fucking ask) there tomorrow night…. **** cried off due to covid during the week anyways. Booked a west end show instead so am going to try get down there tonight still, as hotel booked and I’m paying for it either way so hopefully will have all died down by then.
God works in mysterious ways...Praise be in Jebus name...
