Storm Eowyn

Red warning here in Dumfries and Galloway. Everything is seemingly closed tomorrow, even Tesco and the like have shut the doors and most businesses the same.

Expected gusts virtually the full day between 70/90mph so it’s not going to be great.

A bit breezy as they used to say ;-)
We’ve been told hurricane force 12 along the west.
That’s average wind speed of 118kph. That’s average sustained speed over ten minutes.
Gusts of up to 130 kph.

Hang on tight @jimharri

The worst of it will be along the coastline. I'm about 65km from Westport. It's fairly breezy out there at the moment, but I don't think it's at that level. The worst of it is supposed to be around now.

Gusting to 85 mph in sunny morecambe later this morning.

Ha, a bit of house tile literally just slid off typing this

Or the first bedwetter to say "Stay Safe", unless you're a roofer, scaffolder or hot air balloonist, I'm sure tomorrow will be ok.

It will be.

If people stay safe.

Blizzard conditions at the moment. And the strongest winds still a couple of hours away yet.

:-(

No work tomorrow. Been taken out of our annual leave.

Really? That's not good taking it out of your leave, not in a red warning.

My loft hatch has blown up.

Yeah sure, none are really in grave danger, it will pass and we'll clean up like other times it happens, and it might not be as bad as it is made out.

But still, if it was a weekend, I wouldn't send my kids out in it. So them not being out in school, is welcome. I wouldn't go out for a leisure outing, so working from home and cancelling in-persom meetings is ok.

Overall, I don't think the red warning is nanny stating. People can still decide to go rambo if they want to, or they can just sit some bad weather out, like we have been doing for centuries.

The lazy twats who live next door to me have had a discarded headboard leaning up against their “garage room” for over a month now.

This morning it has relocated itself to the side of the flower bed between our two semi’s. That is probably where it will stay for a good few weeks.

Anybody else with neighbours like that?

My partner lives in a local authority property. Hers is flawless inside and out as we maintain and look after it.

Next door have 3 mattresses stacked up since last July and all kinds of other shite littered about. I don’t even live there but if really fucks me off but no matter how many subtle digs I have at them, the shameless twats just add to it.
