In Stalybridge they have the two pubs with the shotest and longest names.
One is called "Y" or similar and the second one has something to do with a Regiment.
Help please on the confirmation !!

the shortest pub name is "Q" inn and the longest is "The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn"; shortened to the rifleman

Thanks Shady.Knew it was a letter of the alphabet.Years ago they used to to a Saturday Dinner Curry for free, only a taster but great times.

Prestwich_Blue"]There's the Swan & Cemetery in Bury near Gigg Lane. QUOTE)

The cemetery bit is easy as Bury Cemetery is just down the road facing the pub (although you can't see it from the main road). The swan bit I will have to work on, but I am guessing Lord Derby association? Only because a swan figures on some secondary school badges in the area and he owns much of the territory. The school I went to in Bury was called Derby Grammar after all.

Used to go passed the Soldier Dick on my way to Edale. Like the "3 stags head" just past sparrowpit. It's not a pub as such, but like somebodies gaff! weird.

All true Cheshire pubs which at some stage I`ve ventured :

The Headless Woman, Tarporley
Sir Gerwain & The Green Knight (all one pub name) Deeside
Spinner and Bergamont (Named after 2 racehorses),Comberbach
Salt Barge, Northwich
The Morris Dancer (oohhhhhhhhh get you) Kelsall
Helter Skelter,Frodsham ONE OF THE BEST CAMARA HOUSES GOING !!
