Strength in Depth Myth

Yes we have a big squad but when you break it down, we seriously lack in areas when certain players are missing, Harry Redknapp had it right when he said we look average when Hart, Kompany, Silva & Aguero are missing / not at the races - YES they are 4 world class players and I'm not expecting to have someone of a similar class as back up but the gulf in class between first team 11 and squad players is alarming

You are listening to harry rednapp?

We have the best squad we have ever had, some are new and haven't played together, patience is required

It's not a myth IMO as the depth is there for all to see. The team we put out v Spurs was still impressively strong.

The problem is not adapting when we miss key players.

You take Messi away from Barca and they look a different team. You take Ronaldo or Hazard from Madrid and Chelsea and the same. It's only natural that when we miss Silva, the same happens.

That's when Pellers should be getting the best out of Sterling and KDB rather than hoping Nasri and an out of position Yaya can fill the void.

Take the 4/5 best players out of any team I suspect they might look average to

We have depth of talent, look at our second 11 and then decide how many of them would beat out the season 11 at any other club in England, half our 'second' players would be starters.

Talent itself ain't the problem, a worse squad with more desire and drive might do better in fact.

If we play any team in the premier, or majority of teams in Europe, no injuries or suspension for both teams, we have the strongest bench by far, and far better players that don't even make the bench

Agree totally.

Hart > Willy - embarrassing gulf.
Vince/Manga > Demi/Otamendi - massive gulf.
Ferna/Yaya > Delph/Fernando - massive gulf.
KDB > Navas - LOL
Sterling > Nasri - Ok he's not playing great but it'd take a massive problem for me to pick Nasri
Kun > Bony - fucking lol.
Silva is incomparable so I will spare the squad that.

Blimey

We do have strength in depth when the squad is fully fit. Were unlucky with injuries. We get some more players back and we will see our real strength in depth. Harry was always going to big up the Spurs win saying were lacking a squad is crazy. I think you look at whos to come back soon and there is more positives than negatives to our squad.

Wouldn't this be the same at most sides?

The only areas that concern me are reserve keeper not being even close to good enough, both left backs being iffy and midfield being a bit week when Toure is out. The lack of a 4th striker could hurt us too if things carry on the way they are.

I think the otamendi money could have been better spent.
