Striker - Plan B

Ok so this is out of left field with no itk or wumming.
Anyone think city might take a shot at altidore??
Reason being 1. he is a big man who with the right managing could propel himself as athletically he is gifted enough.
2. He could be a marketing tool in the US and business wise could make sense to push altidore in the US market with the WC coming up. Even as a role player city could push him in the market, help them compete against the united/Chevy.
3. He is young and with the youth policy might be worth the chance.

Just some over thinking on my part and mostly just guessing with what business sense for city in the long term.

And obviously is no replacement for cavani.

Isn't he the fat american guy who couldn't get in Hull's team ahead of Caleb Folan ?

-- Tue Jun 25, 2013 11:46 am --

Who's currently scoring for fun in the colombian/ecuadorian/uruguayan/brazilian/Argentinian Leagues

not fat, he's strong, he was 19/20 at Hull, and bagged 31 in 43 appearances in all comps last year in dutch league (including 23 in 33 league appearances)

LOFL - De Laurentis is a fcuking clown - why the hell would you want to spunk £53m on a player when his clause expires in August.

There is no way we will pay £53m outright in money - we made our offer to Napoli which included Dzeko - de laurentis refused

Cavani himself is now getting frustrated and has asked for the clause to be lowered - but he should never have agreed to such a high sell on fee in the first place.

But that has probably something to do with De Laurentis saying come on mate, you are knocking them in for us, we will sell you immediately for that amount - no questions asked

Not sure all of this is completely true, De Laurentis is a fucking clown no doubt. Not sure what offer we made - did it include Dzeko - I doubt it because Dzeko doesn't fancy Napoli - so unlikely we would try to conscript him. More likely Napoli enquirerd about the possibility of including Dzeko but the option stalled when he wasn't interested. In reality no one will pay £53m you are right but they might squeeze £45m out of someone - probably Chelsea. I think our offer remains on the table until te end of the month but I doubt Napoli will be rushed. This will run and run.

Agree - and looking at the history when we were talking to Napoli, Dzeko was reported afterwards to have said he did not want to go to Italy so you are probably right on that one as well

Looking forward to the remaining weeks though in the window unlike some who think cos' we lost Isco it is all over : )

Just to address the idea of Altidore further. He's not good enough, but even if he thought he were it would be a disastrous move for the player. Klinsmann has made it very clear (see: Brek Shea) that he wants his internationals playing regularly at their club. Altidore would have to be an idiot to sign up to be mcfc's backup striker.

I really don't think he's of the right quality or anything like that, just pointing out that it would even make little sense from the player's perspective.
