not a chance.

so you would rather come 5th 4th or 3rd than win the league

So your trying to say that we cant win the league with the side we have?

Just because we finished 5th last year doesnt mean that we cant win the league this time around. with the quality we have added this summer we will be there or there abouts come the end of the season. when Kolarov, Jerome and Super Mario is fit then we will be a scary side beleive me.

tbh i cant see us coming any higher than 3rd if we're lucky

I agree we must have one of the strongest squads in the league but that won't mean much if we don't play as a team and take every game as a cup final and play accordingly. Not to mention making stupid mistakes like last weekend.

If Mancini gets it right which i beleive he will i think we can win the league dispite how good Chelsea are looking.

We should have won at sunderland easy with the chances we had but we didnt put them away for some bizare reason but still last season sunderland only lost to the scum villa and chelski which all had the best away records in the league.

That was a bit of a cheap shot. The question is about the squad and not the team. Drogba is cheating scum and so I dont want him here. Fletcher and Scholes are two of the most effective midfield players in Europe but I dont want them here either. Our very close to perfect squad will develop over time into a team that will overtake others and bring success.

we need 11 that can win everyweek..than 25 that on paper look strong ,.our players look like world beaters on you tube ,,,put them together and prey ,cos 4 points up to now.dont mean shit guys ..

I agree. I think even if our squad is good enough to win the Prem right now we won't do it this season.

With Micah Richards being the longest serving most experienced (in terms of knowing City) player at City, that says a lot about how fresh our squad is. But fresh and new as it is, it is just raw and young in terms of development; the understanding and cohesion will be limited; a heirarchy will not have been fully established as yet; there still needs to be a period of time to see if everyone fits in, as there might be players who we've just signed who we think are good players who may just not fit in with that heirarchy or with the way we play; everyone needs to get used to the way Mancini wants to train, socialise, play on the pitch, recover afterwards, his rules and regulations; us as fans need to improve; we need to establish an aura/ a air of invinciibility about us that only comes through a prolonged period of winning and winning and winning; we beat Chelsea 4-2 away last season but we need to bengoing to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, The Emirates, White Hart Lane, Anfield, Vila Park, Goodison... and winning season after season after season at 75% of them grounds - that will help build that aura about us.

But all this only comes with time. Even if any of us think we are good enough to win the league with the quality of our squad now, we just don't have the above to go with the quality. Things like losing at Sunderland after creating hardly any chnaces and fluffin the ones we did create, will happen a fair few times until we build that aura because teams aren't scared enough of us to bottle it.

We have one of, if not THE, strongest squad in the Premiership. Whether we have the strongest starting 11 however is a different matter entirely and, ultimately, is the more importanty question.

Very good point.

True, but you can't start you strongest 11 every week and squad depth does become very important.

I have said all along that our challenge is to stay as close as we possibly can to the leaders by Christmas. Because we will play better and better football as time goes on and also as other teams pick up injuries and players drop out, we have the squad strength to win out in the end. But that's no use if we are 12+ points behind by Christmas. Sunderland was a real fook up. I know it's only 1 game but we are 5 points behind already. We really have to stay as close as we possibly can to Chelsea or they will be out of sight before we get going.
