Stuart Pearce

Lots of dark memories on here, guys. It really was a dire period in our history. Looking back, what sums it up for me personally was the FA Cup game against West Ham at the Etihad. I remember that when the team was announced & we found out that Samaras wasn't playing my heart sank. The rest of the team was that bad we were basically depending on Samaras.
It all seems like a bad dream now.
Injured because he played the game before (Wigan), when injured.

Pearce as a player was a hard uncompromising fullback. As a manager and coach he was utterly uninspired. Now as a pundit he comes across as bitter and thick. It is a downhill trajectory.
amazed he's never had a proper stab as England manager,he really fits their usual criteria....

Pearce’s final season is the nearest I’ve come to falling out of love for football. It was an unrelenting drudge of miserable fun free football. I missed most of the home derby that season because I really couldn’t watch us. It actually was a perfect microcosm for the season. A 1-0 defeat against 10 man United with Vassell missing a penalty.

And we left a striker on the bench. I think it was Samaras - crying out for a goal but kept his record signing sat on his arse!
