Met him once after a game, 1-0 home win against Palace in Div 1. My Dad had been invited to do the whole 'present the match ball' corporate thing so the whole family went. Met a lot of ex players and current staff that day; Mike Summerbee in particular was great - we had a mutual family friend - as were Kevin Keegan and Alex Williams. Pearce, on the other hand, was a miserable twat. I mean, my brother and I were teenagers, my Dad a fan of 40-odd years, and we'd travelled up from Bedford; the guy could have at least mustered a smile and a few nice words. The signs were there that he wasn't the cleverest guy in the world when Beasant in his last game told him where to place the ball with his last minute penalty and therefore hit 100 goals....that went well.
