Student Loan Warning

Anyone applied for a student loan starting this year and still waiting?
There is a totally chaotic hold up and the word on the street is that from next week no grants will be allocated and all students still awaiting a decision will be awarded minimum 75% loans regardless of family circumstances in order to clear the back log.

shouldn't we have already heard of this then if thats the case?

What I hate about uni is your practically invisible until you are in the third year unless you are in the top few percentage wise. My grade average is 82% going into my third year. My tutors know my name and regularly stop to have conversation. I am very committed to my course and that probably shows through but the vast majority are anonymous to them. Its a shame.

My mum sent off her forms last week so I hope its all sorted. Dont want the hassle. Student finance are a fucking turd of a company.

They said the exact same rthings last year and there was no problem.

I've still gotta send off for mine, but can't until I get my 1st year Uni results.

Ooooh, thats longer than me, I get mine on Tuesday 10am.

It is a bit of a joke that it's gonna take that long for em to sort your results out.

Fuckin miles away. Can relate to what you're saying, I cant stand the staff at my uni, they're shocking. One had a go at me the other day for calling him by his first name rather than "Professor _____"......fuckin weirdo...

emergency measures just decided on this week. The back log problem has been going on ever since they were late getting going in February and then the automatic scanning system they were going to use failed and all applications are now being sent to Glasgow.

so IF theres any truth in this, I wont get enough money from loans to cover my tuition fees (in which case, whats the point in even having the loan) and I wont get any of the grants im entitled to?
