Seriously I don't get the hatred people have on here for the Scottish.

It's a purely reciprocal thing. I use to tell the pupils I taught that I was going to be nice with them as long as they were nice with me - but they had to be nice first. Otherwise, I was going into 'very prickly bastard mode'. I think the Scots and the English have a similar arrangement, and we await the first instance of someone being 'nice'!

I think it is very much the stereotype coming to the fore. The English generally loathe the French and vice versa, but the handful of French people I know are extremely nice! And I was told by a Portuguese waiter that 'they loved the Spanish'! Oh, just the same as we love the French, I said!

It's the 'neighbour' thing! Yanquis and Canadians, Yanquis and Mexicans, Scousers and God's Chosen! Oh, and let's not forget Burnley folk love their neighbours from Blackburn.

I know. The attitude of some of my fellow Englishmen is bizarre to say the least. Mind you, they do seem keen on saying how much they hate everyone and at least they seem to do it in almost equal measure. The Scots, Irish, Welsh, all Europeans (especially the French and Germans) and the Americans seem to be the prime ones for their ire, on here at least. How you can hate a race or a nationality is obviously something you need a much bigger brain for than I've got.......

But most in Scotland don't want it as was decided 2 years ago and every subsequent poll. All she/they are doing are pitting Scot against Scot for another bitter round of in fighting which will have the same outcome. She would be far better trying to unite the country and address its many problems with the significant parliamentary powers at her disposal instead of another round of ripping Scotland and the rest of the Uk apart.

There is no hatred, certainly not from me, but what irks us about the Jocks, is that despite being given
devolution, a continuation of a system that rewards its' population with more public funds per head that England receives,
having free prescriptions, Uni's etc; whilst we don't, we merely fund it, to then have to endure this victimhood
whinging, does grate a tad.
The Scots are lovely folk, I've found, they're a stalwart of our army, have made massive contributions in science
and invention, but to most English folk the SNP is anathema, hence the current discussion.

Not true, lived here for 20 years no problems , not once.

I am Scottish and moved to England in early childhood. Moved back to Scotland as a teenager with a north of England accent. I can tell you that I suffered anti English hatred both in and out of school. Have lived in Scotland since and had many English colleagues move up here. They loved the country but not the racism they were subject to. There is a deep anti English sentiment in too many Scottish individual psyche that is deeply unattractive and the Nats have tapped into.
