Sturgeon wants another referendum

Scotland underpinning the pound? Fucking lol. Deluded. The rest of the UK will be better off without having to subsidise Scotland and cutting you loose will help the pound. What you do for a currency will be your problem.

Why did the £ fall when it was announced Indy ref 2 was on?

I'm not saying it will save it from falling I'm saying it will fall further. That's a fact.

The pound will find it's correct value and I'm happy for that to happen, but there'd be a bloody revolution down here if Scotland votes for independence and is allowed to keep the pound. You have preferrential treatment already via the Barnett formula, your own parliament with ever increasing powers, the ability to rack up a massive deficit enjoying stuff for free that we have to pay for, and still you're insisting on a hugely disruptive referendum at the time national solidarity is at it's most urgent. I believe this is having a big effect on English public opinion, and if the SNP continue to insist on going down this route you can fucking do one

Because it was unexpected.

And you now can't enter the EU unless you accept the Euro.

Who says? Dont think any of the recent countries joiningg the EU have taken the Euro, Croatia and Poland certainly haven't.
They had their own currencies and probably didn't have a problem meeting the fiscal criteria. The same can't be said of Scotland.

Harsh but fair.

We voted 62% against Brexit. You voted for it. You need to deal with it. I couldn't give a rats arse about the £. I you want to get shirty about it as a country my response would be stuck it up your arse.

I'm saying it would cause less damage to both.

The aim of Indy is not to keep the £. I think we are getting caught up in that.

Threatening to fuck us up because we don't agree with your vision and don't see toeing your line is in our interest.

Scotland has its own currency, or is Sterling English, and Wales, Scotland and N. ireland are just allowed to use it. Surely any BOE reserves belong to the 4 parts of the UK , not just England . Don't know but are the recent eastern european countries that have joined the eu really that much more fiscally secure than Scotland. Romania , Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Cyprus. There are lots of small countries in th EU with no oil that manage quite well.

It's pretty obvious that Magicpole is just full of wind and piss. He refuses to answer any questions that compromises his position. Just like his idol Nicola Sturgeon. A person of no substance.

There's absolutely no chance of the Scots keeping the uk pound if they vote for independence. If they leave the uk they leave they can't pick and choose the bits they want to keep. Jokers

Yes the pound does currently belong to all four parts of the uk. But if you vote for independence you won't be part of the uk will you? The clue is in the word independent. You will need your own currency. Its not really rocket science.

If your kids behaved like the SNP do you would be embarrassed, the words spoilt and brat spring to mind.

'An independent Scotland can have whatever currency it wants, currency is nothing to do with it. Now Scotland may need its own central bank that may or may not negotiate with BOE to tie the scottish pound to the UK pound, it will be entirely down to the two banks and governments, if not they could tie it to the euro. There is nothing unusal in currencies being linked. There is certainly no reason to say it wouldnt happen if both governments thought it was in their best interest. Nobody can say now they know for sure what would happen in few years time when minds are concentrated on practicalities and not emotional ideology.

Scotland held a referendum and voted to stay in the Union.

The Union held a referendum and voted to leave the EU

The 62% is irrelevant as Scotland is no more important in this than is Hull.

Currency wise you can use any currency you wish. You can use pounds, dollars or euro you just don't have any control over setting of interest rate or a lender of last resort. I would imagine you will use sterling when you leave until you have sorted out your own credit facilities and a lender of last resort lets call it the 'Bank of The Democratic Republic of Scotland'

Lets hope that Darien 2.0 is more successful this time.

So not big enough to have your own currency then. Have to tie it to the uk. As sturgeon is bleating. Lol. We want our independence but we will still need help with this bit and that bit. Just like sturgeon having the powers to raise taxes but still choses to go cap in hand to westminister. You couldn't make it up.

Lots of countries around the world not big enough to have their own currency, is that a bad thing. Quite a few countries are pegged to the US dollar, Other countries are pegged to the Euro, doesnt make them lesser countries it's no big deal.

How is nationalism disgusting?

Just about the time a poster on here says that in the next few years enough people will die so that a democratic vote can go their way, that's when.

History tells us what rabid nationalism leads to and right now, the language being used by some is getting more and more extreme by the day.
