How much for?
We have no claims over him anymore as he's out of contract. We might get 3mil and a 10% sell-on clause from a tribunal if we're lucky.

Have only seen glimpses of him and he looked okay but honest opinions - how good is he / can he be?

World class stars have made it by 20 which he will be come the start of the season, look at Anelka, Rooney, Messi, Owen, Shearer, Adebayor, Ronaldo , etc, etc

He has the capability to be a premiership player if he can progress and keep injury free, but most likely at a Blackburn or a Bolton for me. If his attitude doesnt improve then I'd say he will turn into a problem player that will flick between the Prem and the Championship.

As a Chelsea fan I'm really puzzled by this one.

We have a few good youngsters ourselves already who have struggled to get a game so why we we sign Sturridge when he's failed to break into City's first team?

The best I can say is he's an excellent prospect, as I said earlier in the thread, CFC will have to do the polishing. In the few appearances he's made this season, he's left me wondering what the fuss is all about but he is young so give him time and he could become really good, but if he isn't an instant hit at CFC will he get that time?.

That's doubtful. We haven't got a great record of bringing through youngsters or having a lot of faith & patience. In recent times - Glen Johnson, Carlton Cole, Scott Sinclair, Ben Sahar and now we have Stoch & Di Santo.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us send Sturridge out on loan. That's what we do with our "prospects". Kiss of death though really, but maybe he could buck the trend.

I DON'T wish him good luck. Hope he fails miserably and by going to Chelsea he's already half way there.

Until I see it on the OS it's paper bullsh*t. Personally I hope it isn't true but if it is I hope he breaks his f***ing legs first game for them. It would be worth hanging on to Danny Mills or Didi Hamann just to f*ck him up when he played against us (cos let's face it who would give a sh*t if they got a season long ban).

What an absolute cretin you are.

There were glimpses of exceptional talent when he was in the youth team but since 'maturing' into a first team player, has there been one game, not one incident, but one game where blues have come to the conclusion that Sturridge is the future of MCFC? He reminds me very much of the situation in which Francis Jeffers found himself at EFC. Thought he was better than he was, got a top four club to buy him and then .
.
.
. . . . . . downhill at a rate of knots.

I suspect he's one of those kids who won't listen to anything or anyone who suggests he waits for his chance, his time or anything which essentially has some element of 'not now'!

1. it's in the mail
2. he'll be playing reserve level football for his time there!

Get in! Cheerio Danny, you're not this mega superstar you believe you are. Go down to Chelsea, you'll be doing the exact same thing here but you'll be receiving a bigger pay packet eh lad? Enjoy the Carling Cup games fella.
