Sturridge to leave City? [Merged]

a lot of people have become oblivious to the fact hes the best talent to come through our ranks. when he plays he has an input in nearly all the goals we score.
against blackburn and stoke i think it was he combined with robinho better and more inventive than elano has.

its a shame all the fans have pure hatered for the guy for not sayin he is devoted to the club WE love.

i have no doubt in my mind that he will become an england striker, and will come back to bite us on the arse.......i say good luck to the lad

Its obvious he is a great prospect for club, and country, but potential is all he has shown so far, and in no way has he proven his merit in order to demand top dollar. Don't want him to go, but fuck the greedy **** if he doesnt wanna sign.

His arrogance is second only to the ladyboy... we dont need it at this club.

To me reading between the lines, it seems it's been more a case of bad timing than anything else because the club wouldn't offer him a contract when he is injured(I don't blame the club for that). Once he was fit again a level of bad feeling set in, because a contract hadn't been offered, and as a result he wanted more, being as he was closer to being a free agent(don't blame him for that). In any negotiation, it's often not what you are worth, but what you're giving up, anyone that has signed up for a long term mobile phone deal understands that! Last year Sturridge would have given up his flexibility for a long term deal, but the club(rightly in my view)chose to hold off offering a deal, there by maintaining their own flexibility. Now the same contract is worth less than it was before, it's not anyone's fault, it simply is what it is.

coupled that into the take over and the fact that we are able to easily replace him with a better more developed and proven player

Of course there is always the option of seeing what parts of this story make any sense.

1) He is leaving for money................Just who is the richest club, and would therefore pay the most in the future should he be as good as he and others think he is ?

2) The final offer is about £35k a week...............This is the basic plus bonuses that he was willing to sign for at the start of the season, and the same as the other graduates receive, the same as discussed with Sven, and all he ever asked for................So its no longer about the money is it?

3) If as Hughes said, he wanted to keep the player, why at no point did he rubbish the stories of 60k a week, knowing they were lies?.....................or any of the other stories about players he has had a fall out with.

4) Ask yourself why a young player would leave the club where its all going to happen in the near future, or what would make you do so if you were him............Money?, thats covered in #1., or maybe the source of the posion thats turned supporters against him and others may be a factor.

It will come out one day.

I'm sorry but you cant mention the 2 decent cameos he had, and then mention a blanket statement that he is involved in all the goals we have scored.

He has started 11 games and come off the bench in a further 16. Most of the games he started, he put in very poor performances. His last cameo at WBA was painful to watch.

Good luck to him at Villa. He wont play for England

fro m an early age it was obvius sturridge would be like this .when jim cass poached him he left is own town club to join us why ,because is father and brother and mother and all the family told him to do so they all moved to manchester for sturridge. i feel sorry for this kid he is being driven by a family of ex pros wanabees and so on and his whole life and the familys as evolved around the kid if you met sturridge he is a very nice lad with no ego he just wants to play football but i think its time he stood up for himself and told all the clingers to f off and let me decide

Absolutely spot on.

Too many on here fall for the propaganda like a 1930's Deutschlander.

It CAN'T be about the money, as we can out-bid anyone else.

It's simply that Hughes doesn't rate him that much.

I really don't have a problem with that, it's the manager's prerogative as to who he gives contracts to and who he doesn't.

I just hate the bullshit that is spread to cover decisions made.

Maybe Hughes feels bad after giving Michael Johnson a ludicrously improved contract... and been rewarded with NO appearances since!

I think Hughes is sacrificing Sturridge to prove a point. And fair do's to him.

Sturridge is way dowen the pecking order and next season he'd hardly get on the bench.

He's no great loss at this particular moment in time, but surely we could do it with a bit more dignity?
