Sturridge

The weekly Sturridge thread..........
Yes,if at all possible,i'd love him back here,he's the real deal and definitely the one that got away.

Not quite as naturally gifted but currently far more reliable and consistent than Mario, however,i actually think together, along with Aguero, they'd be awesome.

You have to wonder where it would leave Dzeko, and also Guidetti,though.....

Today's Sturridge article -

City are also planning a £20m swoop to bring Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge back to the club. The 22-year-old left the Etihad-outfit three-years ago.

Hmm. Not sure about having him back. Don't think he's THAT good or is what we need. If he's not happy on the bench at Chelsea then I can't see him getting many more games here.

It's one thing to say we shouldn't have let him go and another to go out and spend £20M on him now.

FTR I'm not against him because he left, as it didn't appear to be all his fault.

I do not normally watch Chelsea (cannot stand seeing Terrys face on the screen) but might put up with it tonight, it will be interesting to see how Sturridge plays assuming he is in the team and with a bit of luck they will get slaughtered by Barcelona.

An absolute disgrace we let this guy it was so obvious he was an amazing talent after the youth cup final against liverpool when he was only 16, why we didnt give him a long term contract under pearce or sven I will never know.
In terms of bringing him back I think he would be a great signing, could give us width and also play striker, very skillfull, pacy and would also count as homegrown.

A poor man's Kalou (who incedently is available on a Bosman if we really needed this type of player!)

Chelsea are a much better team without him!

Well and truely beleives his own hype, which has been created by the same British media which results in anybody young and English being labelled as worth 3-4 times their true value.

I would be extrealmy dissappointed if he was really one of our top targets

under 24 so not in scope for a Bosman, likely to be the next England media darling at the Euros and a pacy left-sided club trained striker who would be an excellent addition to our squad if Dzeko/Tevez/Balotelli move on. A bargain at £11m - which is what we'd have to pay on a buy-back.

His reported unhappiness is because he's been forced to play wide. Do you really think he's good enough to dislodge either Balotelli or Aguero? Because I don't. If you bought him back to do what he's been doing at Chelsea you'd have the same problem (or he wouldn't go back in the first place).

This. And the obvious fact that he left us after not getting his own way, got what he wanted at Chelsea (more money) and has now found something else to complain about to engineer a move away. Would you honestly not put money on him complaining in a couple of seasons about always playing second fiddle to Aguero/Balotelli and wanting to move elsewhere?

He's a billy big bollocks, frankly nowhere near as good as he thinks he is, and unless he grows up general trouble. The only bonus he would have is being an academy graduate.

Balo or Sturridge?

I'd take him back, and right now, if it was a choice of playing him or Balo up top, it'd have to be him....

Quite mate. We already have one, do we want another? In my opinion we have the better of the two. Admittedly after seeing Agueros scoring stats with Balo I would be very interested to see how he would do with Sturridge instead, though I'd rather drop both and have someone without the entitlement complex!
