They were in a tricky position with this.
He's a repeated offender and what he did was both weird and downright disgraceful but having charged him with something like 6 or 7 counts of racist abuse, they only gave him eight games.
So, I find it a little difficult to comprehend that they can give him 10 game ban for biting someone, 2 games more than that he received for the above offence.

When you get in to multiples of 8, 9, 10 game bans, the differences are meaningless.
What I would say is that a 10 game ban means "We don't want you here any more, be gone" and that sounds right to me.

Not sure on this one, Ray Houghton on talkshite now saying Liverpool waiting to get the written report tomorrow to decide whether to appeal, Andy Jacobs saying its excessive and expects it to be reduced to 8 on appealcrooky said:Can bans be increased if they appeal?

The ban is likely so long because of the racism charges and his previous with biting. Serial offender should mean longer bans if you aren't going to learn.

Seems a tad harsh considering Roy Keane got 3 match ban for trying to end the career of another professional footballer.

Its only really a 6 six game ban as the 4 remaining games of this season mean nothing. And out of those 6 games at least 1, possibly 2, will be in the League Cup next season. So in effect he`ll only probably miss 4 Premier League games next season.

I'd say it was on a par with what barton did if not worse and he got 12..
