Re: Suarez 10 game ban
SEE how the 10-game ban handed to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez for his bite on Branislav Ivanovic compares to other FA punishments over the years:
Eric Cantona - 9 months
The Manchester United striker was handed the FA's biggest-ever punishment for his kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace supporter in 1995. The Frenchman was also handed a two-week jail sentence, although it was later reduced to 120 hours community service.
Joey Barton - 12 games
The QPR midfielder was slapped with a lengthy ban for his meltdown against Manchester City on the final day of last season. Shown a red card for an off-the-ball incident with Carlos Tevez, Barton then clashed with both Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany.
Paolo Di Canio - 11 games
The fiery Italian was punished for pushing over referee Paul Alcock during a game against Arsenal in September 1998. The Sheffield Wednesday player later described himself as "very, very sorry" for the incident.
David Prutton - 10 games
Another to lose his rag with officials. The Southampton midfielder admitted two charges of improper conduct for pushing ref Alan Wiley and trying to confront a linesman.
Luis Suarez - 10 games
Attempted to bite Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in an astonishing incident.
Ben Thatcher - 8 games
Portsmouth midfielder Pedro Mendes was left unconscious by Thatcher's elbow during a game in 2006. The Manchester City defender was also fined six weeks' wages for the shocking challenge.
Luis Suarez - 8 games
The Uruguayan's other notable FA ban came after he was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
Roy Keane - 5 games
The Irishman was suspended for revealing in his autobiography that a challenge on Manchester City's Alf Inge Haaland the previous season (for which he was sent-off) was pre-meditated.
John Terry - 4 games
The former England skipper was handed a four-game suspension for calling QPR's Anton Ferdinand a "f***ing black c***" last season
