The City of old might have done the same, but I don't think the Sheik would want someone like Suarez piling on controversy after controversy.

I'm not sure I understand your point about the elbows. Going up for a ball with arms flailing is part and parcel of the game.

Suarez's was premeditated, he eyed Chellini up, walked over to him and bit him while his back was turned. The only elbow that comes close to that is Ben Thatchers who got a 10 game ban. If Ben had done that for a third time he would have been banned for life. Based on that 4 months for a 3rd bite is quite fair.

Balo was similar - once they are on that pitch, if the trigger is pulled, there's little you can do.

I must have missed him biting and racially abusing other players, he was a bit of a fool, but in no way comparable to Suarez.

If we are getting into What ifs? Then what if Suarez had given Chielini aids - would the bite have been worth a 4 month ban then?
