I have no sympathy for them either. However, until the latest episode, it was looking like a smart decision to hang on to him. I'm sure we would have done the same in their shoes.
I'm not sure I understand your point about the elbows. Going up for a ball with arms flailing is part and parcel of the game.FanchesterCity said:BlueNod864 said:A good wc, and after England match it looked that way, and Liverpool would have been in a position of either having a flying Suarez for the start of the season or £50m plus to strengthen the squad.
They will defo have neither now and if I was fifa I would ban him for an extra 2 months for not accepting responsibilty for his, obvious, actions.
In his defence, and it's only 'just' in his defence, there's a whole new debate to be had about his bad is his bite, vs (say) Fellaini's elbow on Zab at United which went unpunished?
For some reason, we're all conditioned to treat a bite (or spitting as absolutely shocking, but had Suarez just head butted, or elbowed someone, he's most likely get a red card, and that's it. I'n not 100% comfortable with that. People are saying elbows are 'part of the game' but I'm not having it.
I must have missed him biting and racially abusing other players, he was a bit of a fool, but in no way comparable to Suarez.FanchesterCity said:Balo was similar - once they are on that pitch, if the trigger is pulled, there's little you can do.

Suarez's was premeditated, he eyed Chellini up, walked over to him and bit him while his back was turned. The only elbow that comes close to that is Ben Thatchers who got a 10 game ban. If Ben had done that for a third time he would have been banned for life. Based on that 4 months for a 3rd bite is quite fair.
