Torres and Hulk were A list strikers when they were bought for 50m and 53m respectively. How'd they work out? We can play this game of player X was a non A list player and become terrific and player Y was crap but you can't make purchases based on this kind of sonsense. Tixi, Soriano and Pelle have seen Negredo up close and personal for several years and clearly they think highly of him. We've been in for Jovetic for a long time so again they think he's a quality player. We were in for Isco sho is an A list talent, we just weren't able to get him. napoli wanted more than we, Chelsea and Madrid were willing to pay. So it's not like we haven't been in for the "sexy" names.
