Suella Braverman - sacked as Home Secretary (p394)

Boils my piss.

Its almost as if austerity was a mistake? Tens of thousands of officers cut, tens of thousands of police staff-600 police stations closed, hundreds of courts closed, huge cuts to the CPS-so those charged are stuck in the system even longer.

Huge cuts to probation, youth services, prison services. Let alone a complete erosion in pay and conditions for police. Would you do it for roughly 20k?

Yes, there have been thousands recruited -whilst vetting needs a complete overhaul. On piss poor wages who do the govt think are joining? Kids. That's who.

How do you investigate more crimes? One way is to remove all proactive forms of policing-even though we know it is far better to prevent crime than simply record it. The tories have successfully ensured that neigbourhood policing, vital to effective policing of communities, has all but vanished. So do they want police to be visible or not?

It is impossible to make everything a priority without substantial investment and a much greater uplife in numbers. Its always been so-but 13 years of this shit has broken the service.

Braverman talks of more 'common sense' policing. Utter nonsense. Of course this plus the other headlines are simply rhetoric and re-hashing the line that tories are 'tough' on crime...She talks about not going to mental health calls-which admittedly take up 30-40% time and resources-but she talks as if the police can simply say no to these jobs-when mental health/drug abuse is at the core of most low level criminality/anti-social behaviour etc-and if the police don't go, who will? I take it she's announcing investment elsewhere to pick up the slack? Of course not.

Its just another example of their pathetic governing-all easy slogans with nothing of substance behind it. I cannot wait for them all to fuck off.
And police officers are now much more likely to vote Labour.

Superb, mate. Should post more.

The big part this morning was the continued linking to the Labour Party. Starts off by saying the biggest force, ever, failing to mention all those young kids that need a minimum of 5 years to learn their trade. She was pulled up by the interviewer only for her to get snappy, basically trying to shut her down so she could continue the bollox that she was waffling.

The tell was when she stopped her own bollox and moved it to the lefty lawyers and human rights activists, stopping them from implementing their plans, linking them directly to Labour Party funding. Therefore, the suggestion to the short of thinking is that it’s not their fault for the mess we are in, it’s the Labour Party who are apparently the Loony Left.

Hopefully-many will be struggling to make ends meet. Historically I believe officers voted tory because of Thatcher's big pay offer in the late 70s.

For most of us we saw real investment under the last labour govt -I'm not convinced it was all spent wisely and the target driven culture was really unhelpful, even if I did buy into it. That said we did see the implementation of Neighbourhood Policing and PCSOs which helped visibility and community relations significantly.
