It is odd though that Cameron like Mandelson and Carrington before him is only accountable through the House of Lords. He won’t be directly accountable to the Commons.All cabinet members have to be accountable to the Government. Thats why he has been given a Lordship.

You are confusing voting for (and most racists did vote for Brexit) and argued for,by. This government argued for Brexit and argued the EU was unelected and unnaccountable. That was a lie but doesn't mean this appointment doesn't show up the hypocrisy in this government and prime minister,tha argued that case.It’s perfectly legal to do it. If folk don’t like it they can vote them out at the next democratic…. It’s a sad indictment of the state of the Conservative Party that the Prime Minister can’t think of someone who shares his world view that has the competence to be appointed to one of the great offices of state, and has to go back to someone who has a totally different outlook with a record of foreign policy failure.We’re all technocrats these days aren’t we? Personally I think Cameron being FS with the world going to hell in a handcart is a solid move for this country. Exactly the steady, experienced, sort of person we need in the job right now.
I think he’s a far better choice of minister than the mob that have held office for the past few years. It doesn’t stop the irony of it being him, though.
