Suella Braverman - sacked as Home Secretary (p394)

That's the worst attempt at wumming I've ever seen, and that's saying something ;-)

I'm asking why it's pushed as a perfect ideal without any questioning to the detrimental aspect. I find it bizarre that the whole narrative is positive and any deviation away from that is considered unpalatable.
I think mate, that's basically a reaction against racism though. If there weren't loads of people who were anti-foreigner, racist, etc, then there wouldn't be a need to 'celebrate diversity.' In the same way that gay pride only exists because of homophobia. If society had been accepting of homosexuality for the last 2000 years, then chances are it wouldn't exist.

In terms of in business, diversity is pushed partly because of the anti-racism thing (i.e. deserving people not getting jobs because people tend to hire people who are similar to themselves - that goes for sex and social class too), but partly because there is a genuine economic benefit. Teams with diverse backgrounds tend to get better results because they're able to consider things that those with more limited backgrounds don't. When you produce an AI face recognition system that doesn't do so well with black faces, it's probably because you didn't have any black people on your team, for example. Even things like medicine for decades were based entirely on men's biology, with women being an afterthought, because there were fuck all women working in the field.

Swap the wetherspoons and working men's clubs for the gay bars and you might overhear some of the regulars talk about their boyfriends?

Just thought of why diversity would be a good thing. More black and brown genes in the melting pot means gingers will eventually go extinct.

You're Japanese so jog on kemosabe ;-O

It's against the law to discrimate in the workplace. Discrimination against homosexually is just odd. It's just pure bigotry. The best jobs, the best people for those jobs. Someone works hard and makes sacrifices, I salute them. Affirmation on the other hand is the exact thing we don't want to repeat.

GB News: “82% of you think we should leave the ECHR”
I’m surprised 82% of the audience don’t think that’s just a simple test of “are these letters in alphabetical order?”

Against the law, but difficult to prove (and often unconscious). It happens all the time and compounds over time too. If someone doesn't get a great opportunity early on, then when they go for jobs later, they legitimately don't get them because their CV isn't as good.
