suicide

Complete selfishness in my eyes, if they cared for anyone around them, and how much they'd hurt them, they wouldn't do it.

Whilst I know you mean no harm with that comment I think it is a little naive.

I'd suggest you read up on depression. There'll be a few on here soon to tell you a thing or two.

Found out a lad i used to be in a motorbike club with killed himself, which came after his wife died the year before - shocked me really, as when I knew him he was a confident guy, and proper handy with making money out of selling bikes, cars, fixing stuff etc.. In the paper his son said he had financial worries, and of course the grief of losing his wife.
I haven't seen him for years, but it flummoxed me because I just didn't have him down as a person who would top himself, unlike some of the guys I've known over the years who've killed themselves, who had obvious mental issues.
It's easy to say you have no sympathy for suicides, but you can never put yourself in their place to imagine how they have got to the stage where death is preferable to life.
Me, I don't believe in an afterlife, so I'm sticking around whatever happens, there's always choices I think if you keep a clear head.

complete bollocks.

depression makes people blind to the good things in life.

a young lad who was a mate of a mate thought he was dragging his family down so did it.

he thought he was doing them a favour.

Explain to me why I'm naive?. If a person has mental disorders or shows signs of irrational or emotional behaviour, would this not be noticed by close family members/friends? Nobody outright just 'tops' themselves without giving any signs whether they're sane or suffering from severe anxiety. Again, if they understood the emotional stress they'd cause to close family members or friends, they'd give it a second thought or even seek help.

But surely they are not in a balanced frame of mind and therefore not thinking as rationally as normal.

Well you've just said it right there. They're acting irrationally, which is obvious from your perspective. Are you expecting people who's very conditioning causes them to act irrationally to suddenly act rationally?

Plenty of people do just that thing. Without it being noticed by anyone close to them.

Probably, but does this behaviour go completely un-noticed?

Right bluemoon, I'm going to kill myself. Nice knowing you all.

What a highly silly statement!! I wasn't going to get involved as I have made comments on this subject before, but, unless you KNOW what to listen out for, then at least half of suicide victims wear a 'mask' that you wouldn't know was out of the norm of their behaviour.

Yes, you really ARE naive...
