Sunday Supplement 15/16

What registration rules are those then?

The registration rules that will qualify Kelechi as a homegrown player when he turns 21. You know exactly which ones they are, and you should be smart enough to know that I know that he doesn't need to be registered before he's 21.

Tiresome.

To be fair, if we bring through the three player named above then that would be a very good start.
Yes I agree but where I disagree with a few is that Pellegrini didn't bring them through because he wasn't interested. Until this season I don't think any of the players we have let go were good enough. Iheanacho is starting to get his chance, Maffeo I think will either get a loan or possibly some bench appearances next year. Denayer is the one I think should possibly have stayed, but as it's turned out if he had had to play without Kompany I think he would have struggled. Ironically if all 3 play for Pep posters will say Pellegrini should have played the 3 this year, I just think it was a year too early for Denayer and Maffeo.

That is literally the stupidest post I've ever read on here.

Arsenal haven't won the title and neither have Burnley so their teams are just as shit as each other right?

Says the man who claims that kelechi is an academy product. Lol

I think a lot of people have an unrealistic view of what the academy will actually bring.

We are expecting it to promote players who at a young age are worthy of challenging some of the best players in the world or the PL. A players development will take time and we are expecting them to replace a proven player in the first team and at the same time not hinder our results.

Look at the case of Denayer. There is no doubt in my mind that he could do the same job in this squad that Demichellis does. In fact he would probably be an upgrade at the moment. However, having a young CB, who has the potential to be a first team regular for us, sit on the bench for most of the season is not beneficial for him. At the start of the season Mangala, Otamendi and Kompany were all better players and by starting Denayer over one of them would have been detrimental to the side. He's got a good loan to a CL side and when he comes back after two good loan deals he will be ready. In fact, it will be perfect timing with Demichellis gone.

Joe Hart is the best example of this. The season we loaned him to Birmingham he was not as good as Given. However, we could have done we keeping him in the squad as you need two good keepers and if memory serves me right, Given was injured at the back end of the season and we had to get Fulop on an emergency loan who played in some key fixtures. The facts are though that he returned a much better player, he got into the PFA team of the season and quickly dislodged Given as our number one.

Only regular game time can help youngsters reach their potential and they are much more likely to get that our on loan. The sides who challenge for multiple trophies tend to rotate a lot more and rely on their key players so it would be extremely difficult for a young talent to break through straight away.

Loaning out is only good if the club he goes to play the correct style of football that will help them develop. No use a defender for example going to a club where he is encouraged to hump it forward long to strikers or ditto a wide player watch it go over his head and bypassing him.

Denayer benefited from going to Celtic who play the correct style of football, so the club should forge relationships with a few select clubs.

Personally I'm a firm believer that the capital cup should be used to give our young players the experience they need, and integrate them that way.

The problem with that is that there are not that many clubs out there who adopt a similar style that we are trying to achieve. We also want our youngsters to be tested at a high level which narrows the pool of loan teams down even further.

No disrespect to Celtic but the SPL is shite and although they dominate possession in a similar way we do, Denayer will not have been tested in the same way as he would have at a PL side. There are genuine world class players in this league which is a huge step up.

At the end of the day our youth will have been coached a specific way from an early age so they are not necessarily going to lose that skill set. However, we should be trying to place them in an environment when they can progress as an individual.

For example, the likes of Barker and Roberts would be much better suited at a club who encourages their wingers to beat people. Ideally you would want the likes of Denayer to be at a club who will attack teams but have a disciplined defence. We would our young keeper to be at a club where he will be tested.

Txiki and Co will know what cogs our style of football needs to be successful. Let the players develop to the needs of their position.

Also, I think at least 1 of our substitutes should be a youth player. Preferably one who plays on a wing/wingback which are minimal risk positions and we can bring them on when winning comfortably. This should be the case for every PL and CL matchday squad.

Last bit on there what where would city be without Aguero negative spin. Different note we win league be the worst premier league winners ever anyone else it'll be what a wonderful premier league season

Errr, have I just watched the right Sunday supplement, very complimentary and even any negatives were sort of dealt with softly.
